This is a classic Texas restaurant celebrating its 71st anniversary since it's establishment (1950) this year (2021). It's classic A-frame structure is an iconic sight along Texas roads, and is a glorious orange beacon of goodness any time of the day or night (they are open 24 hours). Whataburger has been in business such a long time for good reason: they know how to make an excellent burger. They have a lobby and drive-thru at every location I have visited, as well as the occasional patio seating area at some of the larger locations.
Whataburger has a standard menu of burger and chicken options, as well as a list of fan favorites that are served in a rotation. Of these, my personal favorites are the honey barbecue chicken strip sandwich and the green chile double. My husband likes the monthly offerings such as the pico de gallo burger, the avocado bacon burger, or the A-1 thick and hearty burger.
Whataburger offers three types of buns: classic, wheat, and the most unique option - Texas toast. They offer add ons for the burgers such as bacon, cheese, jalapeño, green chile, grilled peppers, mushrooms, onions, and more for a small fee. You can really customize your burger experience to maximize your enjoyment. Be warned: these burgers are Texas style so mustard is a default condiment; have them hold it if you don't care for it.
They also have an amazing set of condiments; spicy ketchup, jalapeño ranch, and picante sauce, just to name a few. Whataburger also bottles and sells these sauces in local Wal-Mart grocery stories. My husband and I discovered that the jalapeño ranch is a dazzling delight of a dip for pizza (if you like ranch and a bit of spice in your life).
An unexpected reason to love Whataburger is their breakfast which is served from 11pm to 11am. Highlights from this menu include: taquitos, honey butter chicken biscuits, biscuits and gravy, and the pancake platter. Of these, my favorite is the honey butter chicken biscuit. I wish it was available all day, but having limited access makes me appreciate its glory without taking it for granted. My husband loves the biscuits and gravy. He gets jalapeño cheddar biscuits and customizes it further by adding on green chile or jalapeño to the gravy for a few quarters more.
Whataburger has fun seasonal shakes such as the root beer float shake, and the peaches and cream shake as well as classic flavors like strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. They also have lemon and apple hand pies which resemble empanadas. Be warned: these pies are molten hot when they are first served so as tempting as it is, wait a while before consuming or you risk scorching the roof of your mouth.
All in all, Whataburger is a great place to eat. Many people claim it is overrated, but I would argue that its reputation is well-earned. I take all of my friends and family here whenever possible (so I totally recommend it). Don't let the hype train derail you from giving this...

I understand having a busy lunch rush. I do! I've worked fast food and been manager long enough to always keep a professional tone and attitude no matter the situation. I came today for a replacement meal of our choice, because of the incredibly dry and old a** patties they served me yesterday not only that but my order was cold. Don't surprise me anymore. It's always the same thing. Why do I keep coming here. Because it's literally next door to our home. And I always go with Hi hopes that my order will be correct and delicious. Well I go and show the email to the manager. I told her I wouldn't be getting my meal replaced, if instead we can go 2 kids meals as it would equal to the amount I spend the night before. She proceeded with a crappy attitude ''i can only do one" I tell her okay, but why if that's not even close to the amount I spent last night.. whatever right I tell her that's fine can u just add a grill cheese on the side for my baby(1). Since my toddler(4) eat everything. My baby can't. I tell her I want the grill cheese. She proceeded to walk away with an attitude and you could see it in her face. She didn't ask me what my son would like for his side. She didn't ask anything just walked away. And proceeded to make the food, but I could hear her talking in Spanish in the back. complaining about my complaints. I also speak Spanish. And it's just unprofessional of her as the MANAGER ON SHIFT!!!!!
I sincerely hope they fix this whole staff and management issue!!! My employees, are well trained in PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! HOPE YOU CAN GET YOUR TEAM THERE TOO.. HAVE A...
Read moreA few coworkers and I work at and Emergency room and we often order using the Whataburger App. We stopped for a while because there always seemed to be an issue with missing items, but we decided to give them another shot. When we received our order we were still missing items. I called and spoke to the store manager named Yunyen who was very rude and hung up on me. I called right back and spoke to a team leader named Amaya. Their suggestion was that I leave the ER to go pick up the missing items... umm... thats not possible. When I asked to speak to Yunyen, Amaya explained that she had already left ( even though I was on the phone with her no more than 30 seconds before calling back. There needs to be more accountability when situations like this happen. I was told " we will talk to the employees" which would have been great if it was the first time an issue occured ( which it wasnt and this was said to me before) Whataburger needs to take more responsibility for their errors, specially if they are going to offer delivery service through their app. I understand that delivery goes through a third party, but their third party did not make the mistake, Whataburger did. If they are going to offer delivery through their app, then they need to have measures in place that will account for human errors instead of inconveniencing their customers asking them to leave their place of work to go pick them up ( if I was able to leave my workplace, do you really think I would have paid the additional 9+ dollars for service fee, delivery fee and tip??? NO!!! I would have driven their myself... now we are out of items, out of the extra fees, and out of patience with how they treat...
