The most unpleasant experience at a Village Inn was at this location. It had been raining, and we drove across town to get to this location. Mind you, we have a Village Inn 5 minutes away from our house. We drove to the westside of town, in the rain, for the most crappiest service ever. It was night, so putting it out there that this was the night crew. We waited 10 to 15 minutes for ANYONE to come to the front to greet us, seat us, anything. It was dead, you guys! There was no need for us to wait that long. There were PLENTY of empty tables to choose from. So, a guy finally comes and seats us in the corner. He said he'd be back with a highchair for my son. He never came back with it. Ever. He never came back to the table. Anyway, the waitress comes up, takes our order. We wait so very long for our food to come out. Guys, again, it's like a ghost town in there, so what was the hold up?! Our drinks were refilled ONCE, the entire time we kept waving our arms to try to get SOMEONE'S attention. Our waitress was running around mopping and doing everything else but waiting tables. I noticed though, it was the guy who seated us telling her to do this and do that. My husband got the endless menudo and had it refilled once! So anyway, back to the guy, there was another female waitress serving her 2 tables and he kept trailing her like a puppy! Like she was in heat or something or a new shiny toy! Swear! Come time to leave, this guy rings us up, after waiting again for SOMEONE to help us. He messes up the total and has to cancel that transaction and then tries to charge us again! The money he "cancelled" was already taken from our account right away! I checked while he was "cancelling" the transaction. I didn't let him take another damn payment. I looked at his name tag and it said "assistant manager". Seriously?!! Needless to say, we WILL NOT be returning to this Village Inn. We were better off just going to the one by...
Read moreWe decided to give the Village Inn on upper Mesa towards UTEP another try, because the last time we were there it was terrible! This time the service was better and the food was much better as well! It wasn't until I went online at my bank to pay a bill I saw that my check had been altered for more money when using my card!! When I went to the register to pay out I told the young lady that my Husband had already left the waitress her tip on the table, so therefore I put a zero with a line drawn through it on the tip line and for the total line I put the amount of our check!! To me this is very wrong!! It took me nearly all of that day to get this straightened out, with the excuse of the young lady was swamped with several card users that added a tip onto their card so she mistakenly changed my check to add on a tip!! I question whether or not it's so!! So beware if you pay with a card to make sure your check doesn't get altered for more than your meal!! The only thing I got out of it was an apology & a coupon, of which I have yet to receive, for a free pie!! Lol ** I would like to add to my review concerning the trouble I reported above. I still had problems getting the mistake refunded to my account. The person handling it mistakenly deducted another $3 instead of refunding it so therefore they then owed me $6 back! I called their corporate office & it was then taken care of by refunding me the $6 back in cash, a $15 gift card, plus the free pie coupon, which I received the next day by mail, and a heartfelt sincere apology!! I want to say "Thank You" and we will give your restaurant another try, since you personally took care of the mistake!! But we will make sure to have cash when we payout, so to avoid anymore mistakes...
Read moreThe food is fine, nothing special except the pie; the pie is pretty tasty. This is not the best place to take large groups as their wait staff seems unprepared and complacent. The food arrived as ordered thanks to the manager on duty as our server thought it appropriate to take his break while we were there. While I understand that breaks are important, our total visit was appropriately an hour due to the length of time it took to prepare our order. The food we ordered was standard menu items with the exception of one plate of chili cheese fries - I have no idea what took so long to make. Apparently, the concept of bringing the pie with the meal was revolutionary to the server as they appeared confused by our request. Overall, the dining experience was adequate, but not impressive and the the star ingredients of many of the dishes were sparely used. The decor is outdated and the carpeting is a repulsive shade of emerald green with an unattractive pattern. The terracotta and teal booths clash magnificently with the rest of the colors, and they have vile old curtains which look as though they are a potential warren for dust bunnies. The place is fairly quiet, but the atmosphere isn't one where I would bring someone I was trying to impress. It's more of a place to eat pie, drink coffee, and study. I would still...
