Must try! This Peruvian-Mexican restaurant is owned by the same family as Don Carbon which is located on Mesa St and attached to a Don Carbon building. It looked like Amar could use seating of the Don Carbon it's attached to! Went for late lunch on a friday and they were packed, parking was the same. The ambiance was fresh with wood tones and plants everywhere. The food was so delicious words could not do justice. We tried empanadas that come with salsa on the side that was so good! The Lomo Saltado was so filling, the tenderloin was perfectly seasoned with roasted onions and tomato that was absolutely delicious. It comes on top of fries which got soggy from the tenderloin and tomato juices, and accompanied by a pyramid of jasmine rice. Also, tried the Arroz Chaufa Mixto which is wok fried rice with shrimp chicken and beef. We had the Chicha Morada drink which was recommended by our waiter and originates from the Andean region of Peru. It is made from dried purple corn and mixed with pineapple and spices, it was a slightly sweet taste with the tiniest bit of a spice kick to it. Reminded me of Jamaica. For dessert, we tried the popular Maracuya Cheesecake with is Cheesecake flan with a top layer of passion fruit and Suspiro Limeno which tasted like a dulce de leche custard with meringue on top. There was a small birthday party and they played Las Mañanitas over the speakers for them which was so cool of them to do. The service was good and appreciated multiple people checking up on us. Highly recommend you try this restaurant and can already tell they will need to find a bigger building or open another elsewhere as it has high potential!

Food was great! I went with someone who used to live in Peru and he was pleased with the dishes available. The restaurant doesn't have starters or appetizers in their menu so we ordered the Aguachiles Enamorados as a "starter." The dish was delicious - very flavorful and had a great citrus flavor. I was a bit skeptical about raw shrimp but I was pleasantly surprised. For the main courses, we ordered Lomo Saltado and the Huancaina Truffle Pasta. The Truffle pasta was amazing! The taste of the Huancaina sauce was phenomenal. Now, I was told the way the dish was served was not truly Peruvian because the grilled chicken (see picture) is traditionally not served on top of the pasta as is ; rather it is mixed with the pasta and sauce, but it was probably served as is to catch the eye. Unfortunately, the Lomo Saltado lacked flavor. The beef tenderloin was dry and a bit overcooked. It may have been our fault since we ordered it medium well, but the flavor should have still been there. The place is a bit small and even though it's first come first served, they will not seat you during peak times if it's only two of you and they have tables open outside that can seat four to six customers. There is only four or five tables inside that can seat for two. We had to wait until one was free even though there were bigger tables available outside. Their drink menu is very limited, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, so wasn't too thrilled about that. Their prices are a bit on the higher side but not overly steep. I would definitely go back and try other menu items.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Amar with a couple of my girl friends, and I can honestly say it lived up to the fantastic reviews we heard from the community and word of mouth. From start to finish, everything about this place was impressive. The atmosphere was truly beautiful and thoughtfully curated. Every detail, from the elegant cutlery to the gentle table lighting as the sun set, created a warm and inviting ambiance that made our night special. The drink menu was equally impressive, offering a wide selection of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. We tried a few different drinks, and each one was flavorful and expertly crafted — a perfect complement to our meal. Our starters, including the ceviche, were incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. For entrees, everyone enjoyed their dishes, and the desserts were nothing short of creative and delightful. I must highlight the avocado ice cream — it was not only delicious but also visually stunning, molded into an avocado with a dark chocolate shell and a playful chocolate ball pit inside! Truly innovative and fun. The menu here is unlike anything else available in El Paso, offering unique flavors and presentations that make the dining experience memorable. I highly recommend Amar for anyone looking for a beautiful setting, delicious food, and creative desserts. We’ll definitely be back!

Very nice place great set up. We waited 45 min to be seated. As they sat us they advised kitchen was closing in 30 minutes. So we sat there for about 10 minutes before someone asked for our drink order. We felt pressed for time and rushed. We ordered the Glazed Salmon plate. I was a bit disappointed. Salmon was okay, vegies decent, rice was flavor less and hard. We did not have much attention from the staff. We never saw our waitress again. Thankful for the young gentleman who said it was his 2nd day and offered me some water after taking care of his assigned table. There was also another young lady who was so attentive to her customers and eventually came to ask if we needed anything after 20 minutes of no one checking in on us as we sat there waiting to get our check. It was good to try something new but, I will not be going back. Customer service is key you can turn a not so great meal around with great service too bad this was not the case here. Over priced paid over $100 for 3.May your business prosper and hope you take these reviews into consideration. Oh and the chef or owner was making rounds in the patio and disregard our table just as the other server's did. My husband is a retired Veteran who was so excited to eat at this establishment. He had not had Peruvian food since he was deployed. Sad that we received this kind of service.

If there was a way to give this place more than 5 stars, I’d give it much more stars! The food was prepared and served with such care. I had the huancaina truffle pasta, chicha morada (a pitcher is highly recommended), the ceviche amar, and a pitaya margarita (perfectly made). There is a kid friendly option not listed on the menu. Please ask your server for the option offered. The huancaina truffle pasta had so much flavor and even though I was full, I couldn’t stop eating it. The chicken was cooked just right. The flavors were like a a beautiful waltz in my mouth. That’s as best as I can describe it…it was that good. The chicha morada, was beyond delicious! I should’ve gotten the pitcher but I was really busy with my pasta lol. The ceviche amar was so flavorful! The coconut milk that they add to it makes the entire thing just balanced and delicious. The flavors of a regular ceviche but with some extra flavor that gives a both refreshing taste and a slight lime punch at the same time. The pitaya margarita was mixed to perfection. As beautiful as it looked is just as good as it tasted. I highly recommend!!! Highly recommend this place! The atmosphere gives a relaxing, vacation type of vibe. The plants and decor are so thoughtfully laid out. It feels so welcoming and yet makes you feel like you’re on a trip somewhere. Overall, it was wonderful!

My review rating is a combination of service and food. Lemon ginger margarita Shrimp cocktail Bone marrow I really wanted to like this place as I’ve never had Peruvian. It’s small, bright and well decorated. I started with a Lemon Ginger Margarita which looked good on paper but was a bad t tart for my taste. I ordered a shrimp cocktail which was okay. I would have liked more chunky stuff and not finely diced veg but maybe that’s how they do it in Peru. One of the seasonal dishes was Bone Marrow which I love. It came with three corn tortillas to which I added cheese. One of the pieces of bone marrow was pretty good. The other two weren’t quite done. The fat wasn’t spreadable nor tasty. One had spots of cold as I got to the bone which wasn’t appealing at all. The woman who took my order never appeared again. Eventually a man came to clear my table. Since my credit card was out, he asked if I wanted the check. Then from the time my ticket was printed and my credit card was run was almost 20 minutes. Seriously? Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But based on this experience and the prices, I won’t be back. But don’t let my review keep you from visiting. Your experience may be totally different.
