I was so excited to finally visit this place; they do a great job at advertising on Facebook
However, when I went for my very first visit, it was extremely disappointing.
First, it's a large open space inside but was not busy at all. I was greeted right away by a super sweet attendant that was somewhat able to explain their spread of very random goodies with colorful names (maybe to make the item seem better than it actually was), that included cupcakes, slices of cake, cookies, brownies, as well as drinks, some logo merchandise and other speciality items.
Most the time the young helper would have to ask the assistance of another attendant that I was hoping was the owner as I was looking forward to meeting one or both owners. But unfortunately the other more mature looking helper was standoffish, and appeared annoyed to be bothered; she basically seemed to not want to help or be there, at least not the day I went; and never came to help me directly as the young girl had to talk to her no less that 7 or 10 times for help for me and other customers.
Plus the whole time I was there only one customer before me and one other after me appeared, and one person in a corner who just stared at all of us the whole time, that gave a creepy feeling.
Worse was the smell of the entire dimly lite open space; I was hoping for a fresh bakery smell but instead it smelt like rotten eggs. I tried to walk to other spaces as I waited for my order but the smell was Everywhere and I wanted to leave for fresh air as soon as possible.
I spent a lot of money buying a little of each main or basic item: cupcake, large cookie, large brownie and bought merchandise too- t-shirt and their own made jelly.
Again I gave service a two stars because the young girl was sweet but not very familiar with items and needed help and her first usual answer was "I am not sure" and other worker was basically no help.
The atmosphere was gloomy, not friendly, and extremely smelly. I didn't even want to give it one star, but I did because at least they were open for business.
And the food (goodies) that was the worst and saddest of all, not only was part of my order missing (i had to go all the way back to retrieve it) but the highly anticipated taste later was deployable. The brownie had a frosting layer that by itself was not too bad but the nut bits were clearly stale and the brownie itself was so bitter and rancid tasting, it was all thrown out; the large cookie was classic chocolate chip and I asked if they used a special recipe, the young girl thought so, but if they did then it starts with "bland and completely not original"- store bought and Toll House is way better than theirs and for the price I could have bought whole box of freshly homemade cookies that would be so much better. The cookie was taste tested by others and eventually thrown out too. Lastly, the very expensive but not that big cupcake, was the only thing that was tasty but nothing over the top. As for jelly, I currently have no comment as I gave it away, after having such bad experience with the bakery items.
I thought maybe I should try something else one day, but that would only be if I am prepared to visit the throne after and basically throw good money away.
I personally do NOT recommend this place ever. And for those who somehow had good experience or like their ware, good for you.
But first impressions mean a lot and this place...
Read moreLove the products here. Love the vegan options and all the latte options. Love supporting a women-owned, local place. However, I'm saddened by my latest experience here. After dropping $35 here this morning, I had a negative experience that has made me question whether I will ever return. I ordered some vegan pastries, a ToffeNut Almondmilk Latte, and even ordered one of their themed mugs. When the barista called my drink, I picked it up. She later came to my table and grabbed my drink, saying she had given me the wrong drink. Later she called out "ToffeNut". I assumed it was mine, even though she didn't specify almond milk (which they usually do with alternative milks). No biggie, I trusted this was right this time, and when I saw that another patron had gone up to ask for her ToffeNut drink, I verified with the barista that this was almondmilk. When I got to work and started drinking my latte, I quickly realized it was indeed dairy. When you've been vegan for 15 years, it's easy to tell when someone inadvertently gives you dairy--it tastes different and even looks and froths differently. For me, I even quickly become congested when I have dairy. And this was the case now. I wasn't mad, I just thought I'd go back and get a re-make. So, on my way back from work, I stopped by Weirdoughs with my latte and let the same basita know I had been there earlier and that perhaps the drink had gotten swapped, because my drink tasted like dairy. I figured she would offer me a remake like any other place would when such mishaps occur. She quickly cut me off and launched into her defense, "no ma'am, that's almondmilk. It's not dairy. I promise you I wouldn't do that (who the hell is accusing her of doing this on purpose, I thought to myself) I gave you the matcha by mistake and then I gave you almondmilk. The other lady also ordered almondmilk." Then she just stood there and stared at me and offered no solution. I said, "ok well, this tastes like dairy, so I don't know what to tell you. It tastes like dairy, and I have a reaction, I'm congested, so I'm just going to throw it away." It was only until I walked to the trash can that she begrudgingly offered me a re-make. I politely declined. She was clearly more interested in arguing with me than in making it right. What the hell? Who reacts this way? First of all, no one said she did it on purpose, and this is a terrible way to treat a customer. Nevermind she had already made me the wrong drink once and made my wait longer for it. Or the fact that after all this, she never once said "sorry about that." I could have easily argued back, "oh right, 'cause you can't make a mistake even though you had already given me the wrong drink to begin with? No, it's not possible you made a mistake?" But I was not interested in an argument. Just a drink that I could drink. I am not upset about the mistake. I am upset about the handling of the mistake. This is not how you treat customers. This was incredibly rude. So...
Read moreWhat I ordered VS what I got. I paid $98 for a 6in cake and 12 cupcakes. I showed up with a picture of what I wanted; as well as emailing them the same picture. I was excited to pick up until I saw what was given to me :( I called before hand and they did mention they wouldn’t charge much if it wasn’t too hard, so when I showed a picture and the girl said she could do it.. I expected it to come out the way it looked in the picture 😭 I’m a bit heartbroken because it was for my daughters 4th birthday and the cupcakes also do not match the pastel colors (that was the color theme) so yeah.. I’m a bit disappointed. I’m not saying their bread isn’t good, I have yet to try it- as well as other simple designs.. but if you want something exact, I would say find someone who actually perfects their cakes or really cares about what they’re doing. I wouldn’t have minded paying someone more money if it would have came out exact; it’s just I didn’t know where else to look
