Whether you want to come to splurge on a nice Ribeye steak or on a college budget....Flemings has it all! My ultimate favorite has got to be there Happy Hour Menu (5-7pm daily) or even there extended happy hour (8-10pm) for those leaving work at a later time. We can all be Happy! All of the happy hour menu items start at a low $6 and vary to $8. *The happy hour menu is only available at the bar and patio. It gets crowded very quickly and seating is limited, be sure to come closer to 5pm to score more seats. Patio seating has an awesome bonfire area and outside heating.
Drinks: *Blueberry Lemondrop ($7): Svedka Vodka & fresh blueberries. Fleming's is a fine establishment, but I struggle not getting "white girl wasted on these." It's the perfect balance of sweet and tart and the vodka infused blueberries at the end are phenomenal. Just take it easy, they are sweet but you're drinking vodka after all.
Food: A Summer of Love Pre Fixe Menu ($89 for 1st course, main entree, and choice of any dessert)
*Compari Tomato Bruschetta (1st course): Housemade bruschetta, blistered tomatoes, crostini, balsamic glaze. Perfect summer dish, very light and reminds me of a deconstructed Capri sandwich.
*Prime Tomahawk Ribeye (main entree): 35oz of pure goodness. Phenomenal!!! Served with merlot salt and cabernet butter. The steak does not include sides so made sure to order a side of garlic mashed potatoes for ($11). The Ribeye was perfectly prepared medium upon request and skillfully seared. I did appreciate the merlot salt and cabernet butter that was included, but the seasoning and sear on the steak was truly perfect on its own.
*Chocolate Lava Cake (Dessert): I especially loved that you could choose any dessert despite the menu being pre Fixe. Make sure to order 20 minutes in advance since it is prepared all on site. Okay, so I've had many renditions of chocolate lava cakes elsewhere....but Fleming's always delivers on this dessert. They perfectly create a savory, but not too sweet chocolate creation and cutting into that cake and having all that gooey goodness spill out will make your eyes roll back. On the side, they always include the freshest raspberries and homemade whipped cream.
I have ventured to this location many a times and this will ALWAYS be a safe place to come without fear of disappointment in the quality of food. Stick to the steaks of course, garlic mashed potatoes, Diablo shrimp, calamari, blueberry Lemondrop, and the chocolate lava cake to ensure an exceptional food experience. Flemings, thank you for always delivering the very best in all of your dishes. I can't help but want to hug all of your skilled chiefs and give the biggest gratitude to your bartenders that craft the...
Read moreI came to Flemings on 7/28/21 around 8:00pm for a mini family dinner following the news of my aunts passing. The dinner service was decent, and the ambiance was alright considering we were immediately sat on the patio instead of inside.
A bit about the food. The crab cakes were breaded and tasted as if they were once frozen or cooked earlier in the day. The lobster bisque separated by the time it reached the table and was full of salt. The “Butter Cake” is just a Little Debbie Brownie with Cool Whip on top. I couldn’t believe it was 14 bucks. The lobster tails were the only saving grace.
Here comes the problem. When the bill came to the table, the waitress hand wrote her own custom tip as she explained “Out of her tip, she has to cash out a percentage to the other staff members, so she accounted for that by adding more than 20%”. Umm that’s a no for me. I should be required to tip you more than I feel is comfortable for the service let alone a markup on the standard 20% due to you having to cash out others. It didn’t stop there. Two cards were given to split the bill and my aunt handed her 35 bucks cash for PART of the tip, the rest would go on the cards.
Ruth returned to the table and asked, “Did I provide good service?” After we told her she gave us decent service, she bent down and said “Let me tell you guys something. This is how I make a living” and proceeded to lecture us about how to tip. I stopped her and told her she was being rude. She responded that she wasn’t and attempted to list the reasons why she deserved a 20%+ tip. I stopped her again and asked for a manager. She then begged us not to do so and said she would dismiss herself. That type of behavior is highly unacceptable.
The table next to us overheard what happened and showed us their receipt. She hadn’t written anything on theirs and it immediately felt racial. I mean do African American’s need to be taught how to tip vs. Caucasians? The whole situation was presented to the manager who reluctantly agreed with how we felt. She was clearly uninterested in the situation and just wanted us out at that point. Aside from the fact that I won’t be back due to the lackluster food, I can’t support a restaurant that allows this type of behavior.
I felt humiliated and disrespected and so did my family. What was supposed to be a family dinner to remember a relative turned into a night of regret, embarrassment...
Read moreSo, if this were a normal restaurant, I would not rate them as low. However, I believe in receiving value for my money, so when your menu costs triple or quadruple that of other steak houses then I expect the service, food, and atmosphere to equal in quality to what I am spending.
I will start with the good. The manager was very nice, and he checked on us to give a personal touch. The restaurant has a valet which is nice since the parking is about a two minute walk away. The lobster mac n cheese was probably the best mac n cheese I ever had anywhere.
The service wasnt terrible, but it also wasnt great, and thats the problem. Your making between $100-$300 a table in tips and your service is ok. No, thats already a deal breaker.
The food was good, but honestly it also wasn't great. Excepting two things. The onion rings were amazing and so was the lobster mac n cheese. Otherwise, I have had better mashed potatoes out of the microwaveable refrigerator section at the grocery store, and their tomahawk steak was not as good as outback. For a $119 steak (btw 35oz steak is bordering on false advertising because it's 16 oz of meat with 19 oz of bone) the steak should make my mouth do back flips from a flavor explosion.
The atmosphere is nonexistence. I've been to places with half the cost that have live pianos, spaced seating to keep down conversation noise, and noise dampened kitchens. This place had none of that. The kitchen noise was loud and intruding, There were only six of us and I had to strain to hear conversation. If there was any music, I could not hear it, and the space felt somewhat crowded rather than the intimate sort of experience you would expect from fine dining.
Ultimately, Flemings is an over priced farce best suited to foolish people who like to spend way more money than necessary to convince themselves and others they got it like that. That's a nope for me, I...
