Quite possibly one of the best hotels/suite hotels I've ever stayed in. I am a basic *, so I never use hotel pools/gyms or eat the breakfast provided anyway, so those amenities don't matter. What matters to me is the room itself. Does it make me feel safe? Does it look/smell clean? Am I happy being in the room? This Towneplace Suites hotel gets 10/10, 5 stars across the board in my opinion.

I chose this hotel because I am in the process of moving to California. My first few weeks here I did the "vacation thing" until getting into a cheaper Airbnb while I look for a job/place to live. I chose this place because of the kitchenette. Before my move I spent 36 days in a row driving through each of the lower 48 states on a road trip and wanted to do some actual home cooking for once.
Hotels in Los Angeles are expensive, that's a fact. This is a suite hotel, so the rooms are going to be more expensive than most places, but it's so worth it. This hotel was one of the cheaper options on hotels.com (a big reason why I chose it, too) but it doesn't show it (if that makes sense). I'm not sure how much more "luxurious" the more expensive suite hotel options are in Los Angeles, but this place, to me, was perfect.
On my road trip, I've stayed in over 35 cheap hotels/motels. This is the kind of hotel room that even without housekeeping/laundry/free breakfast/gym/pool, you just wish you could live there permanently. I...
Read moreFirst off, this is not the place to stay for more than one night. It's a place to be for our night back from being out of the country, before we fly back to our home state. ||Reasons are: front desk: we got there late at night, around 10pm-ish. I did not see the guard then, but what I did find is a front desk clerk talking to what I believe is another front desk clerk, the 2nd one just standing around a few feet to the side and not acknowledging us. The main guy was nice, but too relaxed and just doing his basic duties to get us in; thank me for my Platinum status, and send me on my way. Note that I don't expect for an upgrade in the middle of the night for a one night stay, but considering the only upgrade I'll get is to be on the 4th floor and he offered me a 3rd floor, I was too tired and too uninterested to stick around the lobby area for too long to ask for it, since I feel like I was getting in the way of their conversation as it is. He did offer me a late check-out which I took, but I had to leave at 10am the next day anyway to get on with my day which includes driving around for work before I head back to my home state later in the night.||The hotel's area is safe-ish enough, but the hotel is situated where I would not be walking around in the middle of the night. The good thing is that I can see from my room where my car is parked. ||The suite itself is clean, it has a kitchenette, but the bed is one of the worst I've slept in. It had zero lumbar support whatsoever. The room is fairly clean.||The breakfast area is small, but it had the basics of the scrambled egg, bacon, coffee, OJ, waffles and bagel. Do not expect much, but it's free. Granted there were only 3 other group eating at the time we were there, the person in charge of the breakfast area stayed on her phone for half the time we were there. I employ people, and my pet peeve is paying someone to just sit/stand around on their phones half the time on the clock. It's just run by mediocre crew.||I like the fact that the gym is visible and easy to find, but it's certainly small. The pool is in front of the hotel, and it looks safe and nice enough but we had no time to enjoy it.||I did see the guard, and the front desk clerk in the morning are better and there were 3 of them. I did tell them that the room, when I opened the door, smelled a bit musky. I was too tired the night before to fuss around with a room change, I doubt the next room would have been better. IMO they would not need a guard if they pay more for better staffing and better amenities or breakfast selection. Better paying guests will pay top $ if they think they can get what they pay for, and this hotel definitely did not offer the best bang for your buck.||The room smell, and the bed will not make me want to go back again definitely. It seems like I'm paying good $ to deal with crap room for the same price I can pay for much better Marriott hotels, albeit with no kitchen and no...
Read moreThis is by far the worst Marriott that I have stayed at and I have stayed all over the country. Let me start with the night shift at the front desk and night security. The younger guy with black hair somewhat longer hair is the rudest most unprofessional person ever delt with at a hotel. I'm guessing that the other gentleman who is heavyset and bold and works along with him would be his supervisor and he is equally as bad. As far as the rooms go, they are not clean. The dished were dirty and the silverware had food stuck to them. She shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower are full of mold. The cleaning staff must just fill them up and not look at them. There is dirt in all corners of the room and mold inside the air vents. The carpets in the room I stayed in were gross. The room had a horrible smell. As far as the breakfast goes, the must not use their budget because it is a joke. They expired yogurt and prepackaged muffins that looked like someone had stepped on them. The eggs were like the rubber ground pieces that you would find on a playground. The parking is terrible and they allow people to stand out there playing loud music, drinking, amd getting high. I would not recommend for sure it you do not want your children exposed to this stuff. I would also keep any children away from night shift as they are rude, act like they are stoned, curse at their customers and are extremely unprofessional. The security guard who works nights does nothing to stop the issues in the parking lot. They are going to charge you a $250.00 dollar deposit of which they will deduct frivolous charges from. The management at this hotel will hide in the office and refuse to come out and address complaints or issues. It's a very poorly managed hotel and extremely dirty. There is a Residance Inn not far from there that is a lot cleaner, better staff, better management, cleaner, and has better food. I would go there instead of this hotel. I could write much more about this establishment but will not waste anymore of time on it. I promise you that after your stay you will leave here extremely upset about the conditions of this hotel and its staff. If you stay, check your dishes before using them and bring your own toiletries or you may end up sick. Also, if your a member keep up with your stays as they do not report them for your points. You'll have to contact corporate. At least I did. And check your receipts. Not only was I wrongfully charged I witnessed several others at the desk complaining as well and the manager refused to come out and deal...
