MOD Pizza — Restaurant in Elgin

First visit. Will be back. Had never been to a mod pizza but really enjoyed it. The Mattie pizza was perfect for my daughter who is a cheese only kid. She had fun ordering a Mini Maddie. My wife built her own, white sauce, mozz, spinach, sausage, and roasted garlic with pesto drizzle. They should make that a named pizza. I had the Calexico. It says jalapeño but it is really pickled jalapeño. They are NOT the same thing. Service was fast and friendly. I loved the caramelized pear iced tea and the Marion blackberry lemonade. They also had fresh black iced tea (unsweetened like all tea should be) and regular lemonade. The Marion and black tea made an amazing palmer.

The pizza didn't take long and the crust was crisp on the outside with a chew underneath. The red sauce is flavorful, the whitsauce is creamy and tasty. The pesto drizzle is fresh tasting and pairs well on the white sauce. The Buffalo drizzle is warming but not too spicy and was great on the Calexico.

I came to Mod Pizza with a very empty stomach. I waltzed in to this fine establishment searching for a possible solution to my previously stated problem. I looked at the menu and realized that their was no option to order a calzone. This unfortunate news took me by surprise, and the glee I had felt slowly faded. Alas hope was not lost. I approached the worker behind the counter. They greeted me with a kind smile and asked me what kind of Pizza I was going to be ordering today. My previous past as the DA of Georgia kicked into 10th gear and my argumentative passion came out. I stood in front of this kind man and begged him to make me some sort of calzone. He had a keen look in his eye reminiscent of ocean spray in the midnight moon. He took up my offer and made me the most appetizing calzone in which I had ever indulged in. His name you ask? I pulled up to pick up my 3 MOD pizzas from the Mod squad. It turns out they didn't have my order...Came to find out that was my fault as the AP was set to the Algonquin location. The manager said no problem, we can contact Algonquin to cancel, and duplicate the order within 12 minutes. I said Great! 20 minutes later I still didn't have my pizza. It turns out the manager got side tracked training a couple new hires and did not input my order - that was admittedly his fault. 12 minutes later i received by pizzas along with a free gift card, bottle of Coke and a no name cake. Yes, there was a fumble, but the manager started out by helping my mistake, Owning up to his mistake, and then making up for it. We go to MOD for the Dairy Free options that part of my family loves....
