Got a bunch of Japanese goodies. The selection seems to be about 25 items from savory such as curry pan to sweet such as red bean. Most of the pans are about $2.50 each. There's also the classic milk breads and egg salad (w/ham) and tokatsu sandwiches.
What you don't see immediately is their food set right at the checkout counter. I love bento boxes and Bakery Crescent can make you one for $8.25. I counted at least 11 things. Today was teriyaki salmon and tokatsu. Lots of little hidden treats from the macaroni potato salad, seaweed salad, little pickles, lotus root, kewpie mayo are all tucked in. It took about 20 min to prepare. There's also a a decent selection of to go foods like rice bowls, etc. Bento boxes always a treasure and this place is a gem.
Small shop across the street from Mitsuwa. Definitely will make this bakery a normal rotation. Coffee Royal pan is so good! It reminded me of a croissant and cinnamon roll with delectable fall flavors. All their...
Read moreThis is a small Japanese bakery. It’s a standard grab and go. There’s no seating. Yes, they do speak English for people who think there’s a language barrier. They have refrigerated sandwiches on your left in a cooler, that’s very convenient for quick meals. The egg and ham sando was okay, not quite as tasty as the ones in Japan. The eggs in this sandwich are not as creamy and the bread was just okay. The tonkatsu sando is a lot better. I recommend heating it up for about 40 secs. It has just the right amount of savoriness. They have bread, different kinds of buns and donuts, etc. The takoyaki bun was very delicious. I recommend getting that one. Basically, if you want to come here to pick up items for breakfast, snacks, or a light meal then this place is very solid. Prices are pretty cheap, cheaper than Tous Les Jours. Service is very friendly. Ample parking but can be limited since it’s...
Read moreBest Japanese pastry, bun, bento box in Illinois. Heck, it's even better than some of the pastry shop in Japan. If you want to place order for hot food, please order 30 minutes ahead. Master chef prepare hot meals fresh after you place the order, Is it worth the wait? I would wait 1 hour if I have to. It's that good.
It's a family owned business. Their price is ridiculously inexpensive. Bento box of the day is $8.75. Where on earth in Illinois can you find a freshly made to order bento box made by real Japanese professional pastry baker/chef for $8.75. That's 90s price without inflation. The only reason I can't post what I ate, because I couldn't wait to take pictures. I ate it all.... This place is a treasure box....
