Denny's — Restaurant in Elk Grove Township

I've been visiting Denny's locations for nearly 40 years and have had very few instances of poor service, and never one at this particular location in Arlington Heights. My wife and I don't visit as often as we once did solely because we like other establishments as well. That being said, there is nothing bad to say about Denny's in my opinion. It's clean, fast, and the variety of options is expansive. Not only that but you pretty much always know what you are going to be getting because they are consistent.

To be honest I used to really love their Cheese burgers but several years ago they kind of changed them. They are still good but they aren't seasoned the same as they used to be and I miss the old way. Their nachos are really good, the sandwiches are all good and breakfast items are all tasty.

My wife and I visited this morning and watched the snow come down while we perused the menu and while she already had her mind made up what she wanted I didn't. I decided to go with the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, not the entire breakfast but just the pancakes. They were outrageously good! I only ate about half of them because I'm not a big eater but they were fabulous and I brought the remainder home for my son to clean up tonight. We will scramble up some eggs and cook him some sausage and bacon and he will be pleased.

This morning our server was Michael and he has waited on us many times before. Always a friendly smile, a great sense of humor and he is always hustling. Went to Denny's as usual today, and found service to be much slower and more lackluster than normal.

We were brought our coffee and then it took almost an hour for our food to get to our table after ordering, normally it takes less than a half hour. The place wasn't very busy so I know that didn't have much to do with it.

I ordered an All-American Slam. My wife ordered some crepes, and replaced the hash browns with toast. When the food arrived, my wife's Crepes were already cold, and my wheat toast and bacon were missing. I asked why I didn't have bacon, and was told it doesn't come with bacon, despite the menu clearly stating that it does. I was also told that the wheat toast was on the way. When it finally came five minutes into my meal, it was just burnt white toast, despite me clearly stating that I asked for wheat toast multiple times.

To top it all off, we saw the server only 3 times anywhere near our table. To take our order at the start, to drop our food off, and after we had finished eating to ask if we wanted more coffee. We didn't have a chance to ask for more coffee at all during the meal even though we finished our cups before the meal came because the server was never anywhere on our side of the restaurant.

Overall, a much worse experience than we received in the past at this Denny's and I will not be coming back in the future, and will most likely take my Sunday breakfast to...

Had the worst server in the world. First of all she was very unprofessional! Ask for water. Asked for straws to go with the water. And the server just stayed away from my table as if we had the plague. It took another server to bring all of us straws for the water. Second off asked for starters to come before our meals. And would you know she didn't listen to what I asked her. And she decided to talk with other co-workers instead of helping her guests. She bought out all the food at once instead of like I suggested. Third off I ordered my bourbon chicken skillet and asked for extra potatoes and was willing to pay extra for the extra potatoes. For some reason I only received potatoes and chicken. What happened to my vegetables? My server only had chicken and potatoes in my skillet. After that I was done! With her, with this restaurant, everything! Not sure if you guys are still making money with servers like her. She spent more time in the back talking with coworkers instead of finding out what was wrong with her tables. DAXABEN P.
