I would've given this 5 stars if the old staff and the cooking was still the same.
Unfortunately, last night was by far the worst service from one of the staff members. There's this male staff that was the only one wearing a hat. His service is by far subpar!!! Everytime we kept trying to get his attention he would literally ignore us on purpose and hand it off to another male staff who was by far courteous. He would make eye contact act like he was busy when he wasn't and mosey along. However, he would pick other customers and provide service to them!?! Like bro was being racist. This guy made the experience terrible regardless if the food was good. We came in and there wasn't even a welcome greeting like they typically do!! We were ignored upon arrival and the staff was huddling around where the cashier was. I've had more than a decade of hospitality experience and I would've just chosen to go to a hole in the wall place rather than getting the service from this location. I wouldn't recommend going here. Go to Mitsuwa instead at least there you're getting the authentic experience, great food and hospitable staff! Or if you really want to try out Misoya hit the City location!!!
For the owner - I would highly suggest retraining your staff on the words - customer service, hospitality, inclusion and authenticity. None of which was exemplified by your staff member. People go there for the experience of authentic Japanese food. No matter how good your food is... If your service is terrible that is all your guest(s)...
Read moreWhat an extremely disappointing experience. We were looking very much forward to eating ramen as we've enjoyed this establishment pre-covid days. However, after we received our appetizers, we never received our main course, the noodles. Many customers that were seated after us (one party was even larger than us) received their ramen noodles but not us. After waiting patiently for at least 90mins (including the wait time to be seated), we inquired about the status of our order. It became apparent that they had forgotten (or neglected) our order and it was nowhere near being ready. In fact they had packed one of our orders as a to go when we were sitting at the counter... At that point we decided to leave since we were ignored ever since our orders were taken. No one asked about if everything is ok or if we needed the check or anything or followed up on our order. No apologies were made for our forgotten food and wasted time. The waitress even had the audacity to ask us if we were only paying for the appetizers that we received. Of course we will only pay for the food we actually received. Since when is it expected to pay for goods we never received? Absolutely ridiculous and utterly disappointing service. If I could give a zero star rating, I would. Since we never got our dinner like intended, we went down the street to Portillo's where we received a fast, prompt, and...
Read moreDefinitely the best Remen place in Chicagoland, directly operated by a Japan's very famous Miso Ramen chain "Tadokoro Shouten".
You can have real Japanese Miso Ramen here, and actually I like their's better than Tadokoro in Japan.
They offer Spicy Ramen for those who love super spicy taste, but if you want to enjoy deep miso flavor, avoid it and order Spicy Miso on the side instead.
Enjoy the miso ramen as is first, and add "just a little bit" of spicy miso in the middle to make it a bit spicy, yet you can still enjoy miso flavor. (We call it "Piri-Kara" = lightly spicy.)
The amount of spicy miso they put totally kills miso flavor. Piri-Kara is the way you should go to enjoy any spicy food.
Personally, Hokkaido miso is the best with deep miso flavor, and Ise miso is also good with a bit lighter flavor. (and Spicy miso on the side)
If you know real Japanese miso ramen, you will not be disappointed.
Oh, don't forget to order Gyoza, too. Their Gyoza is very good.
In case there is anybody wondering why fried poteto for Hokkaido, and fried shrimp for Ise...,
Hokkaido : The region is famous for Potate production.
Ise : Famous for Ise-Ebi = Lobster. (See the location of the regions in a map below.)
Don't know why fried tofu for Tokyo...
