Saturdays are about coffee, comfort and all little things that replenish the mind and body. On a Saturday morning, I walked into the Grams coffee with my little princess. It was mother and daughter adventure day together trying out a new local coffee shop in Elk Grove. After opening the doors of 18 Grams Coffee and Tea, my nostrils were filled with coffee aroma, eyes opened wide and my heart filled in with the homely feeling. As we walked inside, we noticed the beautiful rustic walls, white couch, high raised tables and chairs and in the background we could hear people laughing, talking and some were occupied on their laptops. And I could see little kids in the coffee shop with their parents enjoying the atmosphere. It was a perfect story book scene.
I was unsure what to order because they had a large selection. As I was browsing the menu, I conversed with the cashier on which coffees are popular. She veiled the following items: • Vietnamese Hazelnut iced coffee • The graham Coffee ( house coffee) • Rose Coffee • Lavender Coffee – with lavender on top
I was interested with the Rose Coffee as the cashier explained that it has rose syrup and little bit of rose petals on the top. The concept of having rose petals on the drink made me exhilarated. I adored the concept. On my coffee drink, they made beautiful design of the leave and sprinkled on the side with rose petals. Overall, the taste of the drink was very light. I prefer a little stronger coffee. I kept chewing on the rose pedals, it tasted like paper. At the end, I spitted out. Perchance, I would describe not my style of coffee. But the flavors were great. The coffee was $5. It was priced same as temple coffee.
Subsequently, I asked my daughter if she wanted anything from the pastries. She replied, no. Besides, they didn’t have many selections of pastries.
As we were about to head out, she sees people eating pasties. And slowly articulated “mommy, I want muffins. I replied, we’ll get pastries somewhere else. She replied those muffins look delicious”. Oh well hard to reason with a 3 year old. We ended up getting banana muffin. And the cashier warmed up in the small oven and asked my princess if she wanted milk too. She replied, no thanks. I was smitten with her polite gesture and the sweetness of the cashier to offer her a glass of milk with the muffin. While I was trying to buckle my daughter in the car, she said mommy I’ll share a piece of muffin with you. The muffin was indeed delicious. She tells me mommy, I would you the muffin looked delicious, right. LOL. Smart little cookie.
The 18 Grams Coffee and Tea is located across the 99 freeway in the complex. And it’s close to Dutch brothers. I will go back to try out their Graham signature coffee and lavender coffee.
If you are in search of local coffee shops or want to try something else besides Starbucks...
Read moreI came to this coffee shop on a whim as I was going to an event that was around the corner and had some time to kill. When I got there it was roughly 1:30 and the place was busy but not crowded. It was very cozy as you walked in because the scent of coffee and sweet treats were definitely in the air which made the space feel very homey.
The one call out was definitely around the service. It was my first time at this coffee shop and I wasn't sure if I had to order at the pad that was on the left hand side or at the spot where it looked like there was a cash register. I stood there for about a minute and a half and when no one acknowledged me he said hi or just gave me a welcome, I decided that it would be best to order from the pad. Again that is the one call out it would have been nice to have been greeted by someone to understand what was best to do at the time.
Boarding process itself was simple clicked on the items paid for it and probably within 7 to 9 minutes both of my items are ready.
I purchased a iced coffee with a salted cream top and an ube muffin that was warmed up.
The ube muffin was just the right amount of sweetness there was a nice crunch on the top as you bid into it and the ube flavor was definitely tasted throughout each bite.
The iced coffee with the salted cream top was superb. I definitely tasted the cream on its own and it again was a rich silkiness of cream with a great flavor of salt. Definitely recommend mixing it into the iced coffee because it just really enhance the flavor of the coffee itself.
Overall I would definitely go back to this place and try the other items...
Read moreI was excited to try out different coffee shops and I was excited for 18 grams but I didn't have a good experience because I did ask Marshall if it was ok for me to use the bathroom he did reply saying I'm sorry we can't the floors are wet. I surely do understand I do but I am 4 months pregnant and I had to go baaaaaaad! anyways I was left with a no so I try to go other stores but ofcourse I couldn't use the gym bathroom. anyways while I walked around outside trying to find a place to go I realized baby is not letting me walk well. I go back inside to 18 grams whilst marshall his coworker a girl idk her name and some customers did stare at me knowing well they can see me through the windows walking. I can tell they know I need to use a bathroom. now I did drive off to the nearest gas station and thankfully baby let me make it, but not that pregnancy is an excuse to use the bathroom but that's messed up they just watched me struggle. also I wash the bathrooms where I work and I get its wet but I will always let a pregnant lady use it it's almost common sense like be a human. anyways no I never bought a drink when I get over it I'll try the coffee I ended up leaving. oh and as I was leaving my bag fell with all my items flying out onto the floor and some random girl who was there who obviously knew I was pregnant helped me picked up my items. so you see not that I'm trying to use my pregnancy as an excuse but golly be nice to the pregnant people. but you know god is good I ended up in a much nicer coffee shop and I didn't pee my pants 😊 be better 18 grams. learn how to connect with...
