The restaurant closed at 9 o’clock, so we figured we had plenty of time to go in a 7:30. My wife ordered a strawberry rhubarb mule (which tasted like pure lime juice) so she told the server (who was very apologetic) that she didn’t care for it, and her second choice was not available at that time, so she stuck with water.
Still plenty before 8 o’clock we order and wait! One of our children ordered the guacamole appetizer as his meal, the other ordered chicken strips and fries from the kids menu. My wife ordered the scallop dinner and I order the “Maine style” lobster roll. Around 8:30 our informs us that the children’s food is ready and made sure it was ok to bring that out first, which was fine. Of course feed the bored children. We waited longer and our children had finished eating and we were getting ready just pay for their meals and leave but at 8:55 our meal finally came out. The wife got 3 medium size scallops which seemed to be cooked fine, atop a dollop of purée and some burnt on the outside but still raw in the middle brussel sprouts all for $34 seemed a little pricey until I assessed my plate. I got a very small maybe 3” long split top bun with maybe 1/3 of a cup of soupy “lobster salad” which wasn’t even cold like it was supposed to be. So I sent it back and the server sent the manager over and I explained that I thought it was unsatisfactory and I did not want anything else because it was already after their closing time and our children were already done and bored. She was apologetic and exclaimed that they had a long day but there weren’t many people there at the time. So I’m not sure how that affected us. She offered us free desserts, even to take, to go, but we declined. We weren’t looking for freebies, just a meal. 1 beer, 2 beverages for the children, a kids meal, an appetizer and an entree still cost us $100. We probably won’t be returning. The server was nice and personable though. I wish I remembered her name, to...
Read moreI'm giving 3 stars because for the prices they are asking, everything should be cooked perfectly, and it wasn't. Our server Lauren was pleasant, attentive, and got our drinks and food out to us quickly. Great service. My husband and I both ordered cocktails and they came out in a reasonable time and tasted good. I would love to see a mojito on the menu, it's just a personal summer drink preference. We ordered calamari and a cup of lobster bisque as appetizers. The lobster bisque was very good, but the calamari had some issues. The flavors were good, but the breading was a bit soggy. I suspect the oil wasn't hot enough. Also there was one large lump of several rings that stuck together in a way that they didn't get cooked well and they were nearly frozen in the middle. I ordered the mahi poke entree. I really enjoyed how they prepared the fish and it seemed to be good quality. I liked the cucumber slices, but if they would have been quick pickled in rice vinegar, they would have REALLY set up the whole dish. The seaweed salad tasted good, and the fried wonton strips were a nice texture element. My issue came with the rice. PLEASE learn how to make decent sushi rice if you're going to serve this dish!! What I got was a cold starchy gelatinous clump of mush with quinoa sprinkled throughout (I'm guessing to help with the texture? It didn't work.) It didn't have any seasoning, and was not something I could stomach. Sushi rice that should come with poke is sticky, but not mushy. It's also normally seasoned with rice vinegar or powder. The rice should be delicious on its own. This rice was seriously murdered. Lastly, there are no desserts! Not a huge deal, but I looked and was hoping to find something.... Being the cherry capital something like a cherry crisp, cherry cheesecake, or even a cherry ice cream would be amazingly refreshing. So many seasonal fruits in this area... I feel like this place is missing out...
Read moreThis was one of the worst, and most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had. We made a reservation for 6 adults and 3 small children on the Friday of Memorial Day. When we arrived, they seated us at a huge, long table, for 16 people. They then gave us plastic cups of water, saying they ran out of clean glassware. The kids ordered lemonade and were served water. We complained and they brought them another round of water. After 45 minutes, we were told they were out of lemonade. Wine glasses were covered in lipstick marks.. The lobster dip was ordered, as an appetizer, and took an hour to arrive. When it did, finally, get there, it was with the salad course.... and was cold. We were charged $4 for bread, and when we requested butter, we were told they were out of butter, and they were making more. What does that even mean? We ordered dinner, and they were out of scallops. The server came back 20 minutes later and told us they were also out of walleye, which was ordered by two people at out table. Another one of us ordered soup, which never arrived. When we complained, they told us that they were also out of soup. One of the kids ordered chicken fingers and they were so over done that they were tougher than leather and unable to eat. There were 2 filets ordered... both, medium rare. One was raw, and the other was tough as a hockey puck, which caused the person eating it to choke and, literally, had people jump up to give her the Heimlich maneuver. The bill came to $500, which we paid, and then ordered 2 pizzas from another establishment, to pick up on the way home, since 1/2 the table couldn't eat their dinners. We complained over and over, yet no manager came over to address the issues. All of these issues may sound ridiculous, but there is not 1 word of dramatic exaggeration. It was a...
