New Hong Kong Buffet — Restaurant in Elk River

I took my 75 year old Dad here for dinner this evening for his 1st time and my 5th trip within 20 weeks although I've been here a few different times, quite a while ago.

The food was pretty good, or most of it, and the experience was good, I was just not feeling 100% but it was a good as could be.

I think when we were just getting there, they were recently starting to put out a lot of new, fresh, hot food as dinner was really picking up by 5-5:30 and all the late afternoons had cleaned up a decent amount of the food that had been there so it was almost a perfect situation.

Even from the start there were a handful of items that just had enough left and it was still good and a couple that were brand new fresh so I was able to get a couple 1/2 plates full of a various few to get me by and they were regularly bringing out 1 or 2 new items every 5+/- minutes which worked for us, especially, as we like to try numerous things and weren't in a rush or picky today.

We both did get plenty of good food to eat.

The food was all pretty good and some was totally awesome, their was almost 1/2 the stuff I wouldn't eat or it was either old, cold or just low but what was there, when it was there was more the enough to make this an over all great experience because the food was all B+/A- for being Chinese Buffet and the servers/service was...

We ate here on March 17th, 2013, for lunch. This place used to be our favorite place as we'd eat here a couple times a week w/o fail (for about 7 years). Lately however the food has gone downhill the number of items on the buffet has been lowered to a less desired and less expensive item and the overall experience has dropped dramaticly. Today the food was cold, the soda out of the fountian was flat (all of them) so we had to have water and the dishes were dirty. Also today being a Sunday meant the price of the buffet is higher (dinner prices all day) but the only item on the buffet that isn't on the regular menu is the crab legs. When we got there only a few legs were left in the pan, we took them which emptied the pan and it took 28 minutes for them to bring more out. We walked out dissapointed for the 4th time in our last 5 visits. Needless to say were done going here for lunch/dinner. They have cut staff, lowered the quality of the food, and in our opinion they are struggling to...

This place benefits from being the only Chinese buffet in Elk River. So you always see people there. If you dont have high expectations, you may walk out satified.

I went at 11:30am before the bulk of the lunch rush. Even though there were dishes that looked kinda, fresh most of the dishes were cold. The ribs were clearly made at least the day before and tossed under the warmer. However I think their buffet serving tables does not keep anything warm for long and makes the below average food way worse.

I did find a few dishes that were better than the other. The onion beef, potstickers, and chili sauce. That's it. Probably over 30 different dishes and that's all we could find. Even the ice cream was machine looked sketchy.

Service was good though and they kept up with the lunch rush and were generally pleasent. Is the food edible? Of course. Is decent? not really. YMMV but with low enough expectations, you'll walk...
