I have only had positive experiences at Thurber Jewelers & would much rather keep by business in the local area than at big chain stores. My favorite earring are from Thurber! This summer I got a beautiful 0.75 carat diamond solitaire ring with a platinum band that they then sized down. Everything about the process went smoothly and exactly as they told me to anticipate. Matt ensured the sizing was correct & Hannah was very friendly. Andi even offered to loan me my choice from many pretty cubic zirconia rings until my ring was done because platinum takes a few more days than regular gold. The work was completed on time & was flawless. It still looks perfect 3 months later & should last a lifetime. Andi also encouraged me to come in for free inspections to ensure the prongs stay in place. I’m an active nurse & outdoorsy person, and am always banging my hands around cleaning the house too, so I will take her up on that. Andi was so professional & an expert in the field, yet so personable & fun. It was seriously like I was talking to a good friend I’d known for years even though I’d just met her. When I walked in to pick up the ring almost 2 weeks later, she said she hoped she’d be there when I picked it up. It’s that kind of service that makes Thurber such a great place. I didn’t expect her to remember me, but she knew exactly who I was when I walked in. She has such good vibes! Last, but not least is Austin. Three years ago my mom & I came in because she wanted to get a new watch battery placed in her watch my dad had given her. My dad had recently died unexpectedly & it was important to her to get it done ASAP. The staff were all busy with other customers, but we were greeted & told they’d be with us shortly. We were in no hurry & enjoyed looking at their displays of pretty things. The other customers were there first, so we didn’t expect what happened next. Austin came over & then helped us with my mom’s request. He even cleaned up the watch a bit, all the while being friendly and helpful. You could tell he liked his job. When he gave the watch back my mom started getting her wallet out to pay, but Austin said there was no charge because of our wait. Austin had no idea that my dad had died just a few months prior or how important it was to my mom. It’s small gestures like this that are really big things. That was such a very kind thing to do & it made me a loyal customer. He’s been there for years now. Austin...
Read moreI recently ordered a wedding band and paid about $800 for it. When I went to pick it up, I asked if my engagement ring could just get a quick cleaning (I had plans that evening). I would have loved to have it looking clean for the weekend. I planned on coming back to get my ring polished and have the Rhodium Plating service. Not only did the lady say she didn’t have any available time in the schedule to do the rhodium plating service any time soon, she said she didn’t have time to clean my ring that day. I’ve gone to jewelers in the past and they would always give my ring a nice, quick clean - at no cost. I would have definitely paid for the cleaning though! And I know I did not spend a whole lot on the wedding band, but I still thought she maybe would have cleaned my diamond ring. I ended up taking my rings to Wedding Day Diamonds in Maple Grove. The gentleman working there polished and did the rhodium plating on both my rings and it took about a half hour! And when I went to pay, he said “This is on us! Merry Christmas!” I insisted on paying but he said no. I will be going there from now on!
I gave 2 stars because the ring I ordered came in so incredibly quickly! I ordered it and it came in 2 days later! Amazing! However, it does not match my diamond ring the way I like. But that’s my fault :( The receipt says no returns or exchanges.
I orginally went to Thurber to see if they could replace 2 tiny diamonds that fell out of the prongs in my band. They gave me an estimate of $750 and told me I’d be much better off just buying a brand new wedding band at the same price. He took the time to explain the issues and I absolutely understood where he was coming from. But I called the jeweler, in Duluth, where I got the band from originally. He told me to send the band in the mail and he’d see what he could do. He fixed it and sent it back to me within a week and only charged me for shipping to send it back :(
So now I have 2 weddings bands and the one from Thurber I won’t even wear. Very upsetting.
I’ll be sticking with my jeweler in Duluth for my wedding band and going to Wedding Day Diamonds for other things. It’s a shame because I loved that this company was local and so close to me! But I felt like I was used just to...
Read moreI ordered a bracelet for my boyfriend on Thurber's website for Valentine's day, the bracelet has plates on it that can have engravings. Planning to have it shipped to my boyfriend, I had expected to see the options for the engravings in the order form, but they weren't there. So then I asked the chat on the website about whether they did actually do engravings there and they said yes! So I, still not quite clear on why they didn't have it in the site, and at the moment I was a state away buying local to my boyfriend, bought a gift card to be sent to my boyfriend's email for the separate engraving cost. In the morning I got a phone call to clarify my situation, and since I couldn't be there to pick out the engraving font, size or even the words, she (a jeweler there named Andi) had an idea for me, I would have my boyfriend go to the shop to ask for Andi who would have his jewelry wrapped up for him and then he could pick out the engraving options he wanted to use and Thurber's would take the jewelry and get the engraving done. Andi was so sweet and kind and helpful, a very satisfactory phone call. When my boyfriend went to see his jewelry and choose the engraving, since I couldn't be there, Andi offered to take a picture of him as he was holding the jewelry, the pictures were lovely and my boyfriend said the jewelry, presentation and jewelers there were awesome. I'm overall glad I purchased here and I can't wait to see the jewelry all done and in person! Thank you Andi, and thank you...
