Nice downtown Elko location. Plenty of free public parking across the street from it. Atmosphere was very nice inside. Waitstaff quick and friendly. Menu selection was great. Coffee was good. Food was not as good as we expected by all the reviews. Eggs over medium and hash browns were cooked perfectly. But areas for improvement would be to use a better quality cooking oil, such as a butter flavored oil. Cooking oil tasted as though it was reused. Perhaps because the cook didn’t clean the grill enough before changing over to another food type? Peg’s Ham and Eggs is very popular in Reno because they serve fresh squeezed OJ and their eggs with ham steak comes with a slice of grilled pineapple and half a strawberry on top with a buttery glaze. Noticed there were no garnishments like this for visual appeal. Fresh OJ and good quality ham steaks like Peg’s has would be a huge hit and increase business for your establishment. I was disappointed that the OJ was from concentrate. There is a huge flavor difference between concentrate, pasteurized and fresh squeezed, so this does not go unnoticed. Cream should be added to scrambled eggs to make them smother and fluffier. Gravy was bland. Needed sausage in it and more pepper. Prices were lower than most, but most customers like us don’t mind paying several dollars more for really good quality food and flavor we can’t get at most of the national chains. Being you are a smaller chain, you need to stand out above the National chains. Start with a better quality oil, fresh squeezed OJ, real butter instead of margarine for pancakes, better quality maple syrup with other pancake toppings, fruit or flavor options and your restaurant would be better than the National chains...
Read moreWe arrived after a long travel day and we were hungry for dinner. We have come here before. We were seating at a table right near the door. I looked at the menu and I decided to have what I did the last time I came which was Spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread.. Our waitress Colleen came to take our order. I hope I got her name right. She was amazing! She was a hard worker and really funny. Part of my meal came before everyone else’s because my meal came with a side and I chose a salad which was beyond generous in size. I was nearly finished when our meals came. My meal was as delicious as the last time. I had gotten particularly through my meal and decided to eat the garlic bread it came with. Before I took a bite I noticed something on the bread. I looked at it more closely and realized it was moldy. My Mom removed it from my plate and we got our waitresses attention. We let her know that there was mold on the bread. She picked it up and with a horrified look on her face said oh my gosh let me take care of that. She took it away and took it to the kitchen. I watched her wait for the new bread to come and when it came out she promptly brought it to the table and informed us that she inspected herself to make sure it was good. She brought me way more that the amount I had before. I had four pieces instead of two. I thanked her SO much for fixing it for me. We finished our dinner without any more hiccups. We also made sure to tip her well for being so incredibly wonderful. I am certain we will...
Read moreTwo visits in two days. We ordered from the Lunch Items: Husband ordered Hot Turkey Sandwich and I ordered Nevada Hard Hat which, if you like a beef and green (Anaheim I believe) chili combination, is a great choice. Second time Husband ordered Grilled Patty Melt and I ordered Hot Turkey Sandwich as I didn't want spicy at the later mealtime. There are so many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is dependably good food especially off the Lunch Items section, and there is a good amount of it. Great coffee. Busy during the second visit, but they are accustomed to taking orders quickly and serving the meals quickly, with experienced servers who also check back from time to time ask how the meal is and to refill drinks. At least two other parties of older adults were sharing meals. Husband had a third time here with coffee and pie that he enjoyed. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, but the other customers always seem to arrive anticipating good food and good service and to leave happy and full, as we do. And conveniently on the other side of the large parking lot is the Western Folklife Center, the G Three Bar Theater, Coffee Joe, etc. (and Rodeway Inn a few more...
