Today 11/05/2023 was the first day I visited this Bonchon because there is one closer to me, which is in Crofton Maryland, but I decided to try something further out that had higher reviews than the one closer to me. If I could give the service, no stars or -5 stars I would when I visited this location I was treated poorly as a paying customer. When I placed my order I had inquired about soju because I’ve never had it before. The normal thing for a person who is providing a service to a customer would be to explain what the item is and then the pricing; but no, the first thing the cashier told me was that it was very expensive $12 for a bottle, this interaction felt as though the cashier felt like I didn’t have enough money to pay for the bottle. I purchased one because I was interested in trying it and he looks surprised that I even purchased it. He then proceeded to tell me that my order would take 10 minutes. I told him OK and I’ll be waiting outside. I then see the manager running orders to customers cars while he is doing this. He looks over at me in my car and I’m making eye contact with him unsure is if he was looking for me or not I head back into the restaurant to make sure he wasn’t looking for me and I asked him about my order, seeing how I was unsure if it was finished or not. The manager was very dismissive of me from the beginning. When I asked him if the order was finished, he told me no it’s not done. The cashier chimed in and told me that my order would be coming up next and I replied OK no problem I’ll be waiting in my car. I also let the manager know what car I would be waiting in and his response was “ I’ll bring it to your car” and when I told him what car I was in, he responded “yes yes yes I already saw you” and he turned his back. After this uncomfortable interaction, I walked back to my car and sat down and waited the full 10 minutes that I had on the timer; while, waiting I saw the manager come in and out the building running orders to customers in their cars once or twice. While I waited for my order to be brung to me. I sat in my car and waited and waited and waited, and the manager never brought me anything. I didn’t want to continuously keep going in and out the building because I didn’t wanna bother anybody, but when I walked in the manager looked at me like he’s never seen me walking in the building before and when I told him I was there to get my order, he told me he got very busy and that’s why he didn’t bring it. He tried to offer me a soda. I didn’t want it after the whole interaction that I went through. I just felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave as soon as possible. In my whole 24 years of life I’ve never felt singled out or mistreated like this before, I burst into tears while leaving the building feeling ashamed and embarrassed. I don’t like pulling the race card with businesses and people in general but this interaction between the cashier and the manager, and myself felt as though I was being racially profiled; first, with purchasing the beverage, then with the manager, treating me in a very dismissive way and servicing those who look like himself before servicing people that were already there before them. I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO THIS...
Read moreI live VERY far away from this location and I placed an order over the phone. The menu very clearly says that you can order a side of regular unfried chicken for $2. I asked the girl on the phone to please make sure that I could indeed order this item as I’ve ordered it numerous times before and it’s never in my bag when I get it. She double checked with someone and told me that yes, I could order it. Upon receiving my food, once more it was not in my bag. I called the location to request a refund and was told that it wasn’t in my bag because I couldn’t actually order it. I explained that I asked that when I called to place the order. I requested my refund once more and was told to hold. I was waiting forever on hold for the girl to pick up and tell me that she’d take my name and number and someone would get back to me. First of all, unacceptable. The item is literally a few dollars. I requested the manager only to be placed on hold AGAIN for so long that I had to call back. The next person I spoke to said the manager wasn’t there and they’d have to call me back another day. Absolutely ridiculous. When I relayed that it was ludicrous that I couldn’t be refunded I was again placed on hold. I’m sure you can imagine that with each time I was placed on hold, I continued to get more and more angry. Not one time did any of these women explain WHY they couldn’t refund me and instead kept placing me on hold and then handing me off to the next person. Finally one last girl asked me “WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS” which infuriated me. My problem was that I was continually being put on hold (and not even a real hold- just them setting the phone on the counter while I listen to them take other orders and calls). My PROBLEM is that instead of someone explaining that a manager is the ONLY person who can issue a refund and said manager is not in the building. It’s absolutely ridiculous that all those people work there and cannot resolve a simple issue without a manager present. Once more, it’s ridiculous that I had to go through ALL OF THAT when someone could’ve simply explained WHY they couldn’t refund me when I requested. And then on top of it all I have to deal with all these incompetent employees acting like I’m the one out of line. I am a service manager. It’s my career. I’ve never handled a customer this way. These employees are rude and poorly trained. I placed this order today because it was my anniversary. My husband and I shared a meal here on our first date and wanted to commemorate that by having it again. I will NEVER order from this location again. I do not appreciate being treated...
Read moreTheir place has one of the best chicken that I've had. (And I've had a lot of chicken). They have unique flavors one being soy garlic and one that's very spicy. The spicy one is a little tooo much for me but lots of my friends enjoy it. It's funny to see them eat a ton and see them struggle with it. They give free cubes radishes to help with the heat. They also have a lot of side items such as sliders, takoyaki, pork buns, etc. Other than the chicken here they have the normal korean food such as tteokboki ,japchae, etc. It is a really nice place to bring your friends and have a good time. It can be pretty pricey with 20 piece wings are about $30 but worth the price for how good they are. The environment within bonchon is also very nice. When you walk in the first thing you'll notice is the GIANT projector they have up on one of the walls. Sometimes itll play kpop mvs, lyric videos, or sports from what I've seen. They also have booths alone the sides of the building and tables in the middle. I do believe you can also call ahead to get a table ready if you have a large party. They also have a big bar in here with their own TVs at the bar. Bonchon also does to-go which can be very conevniant for me and my friends sometimes if we cant sit down. I would also like to add and say that they do take a while for the food to come out. Unless you get one of the sides/starters it sometimes feels like you are waiting forever for the chicken to come to your table, but once it does its the best feeling since you can smell the delicious flavor and just cant wait to just eat it. I usually go to the ellicott city one and they've been doing great. The service is great. They somehow always refill my drinks without me even realizing. All the people their are really nice, attentive and they usually always look like they are happy with what...
