This is the second time I've been very disappointed in this place. I brought my son to pick up crabs I asked about a free sample they said they would have to check first to see if they could give me a free sample of potato salad and shrimp salad. The guy that said he could give me the free sample started doing three other people's orders before even taking care of mine and I was in the very front of the line. He comes back and I asked him if he asked and he said no he did not ask about whether I could have a free sample to try before purchasing. He said he will in a moment and took another few customers meanwhile my 2-year-old is getting very fussy and frustrated and so am I. I should have been the one they served and kept serving until they were done with me and then moved on to the next customer but it didn't work out that way. Anyway I finally asked this guy when he came back a third time without asking whether or not I could have a free sample to try, I said may I speak to somebody else please? He took care of the free sample very quickly after that but then he rang up my order wrong I tried to tell him it was $38 and not 15 but he had to ask one of the managers had to bring it up at that point I said I just need to speak to a manager. And I told them about my frustration Plus the fact he was ringing me up $15 when the total should have been $38 plus the shrimp salad I decided to get in the end. Needless to say, I won't be bringing my son here anymore because we had to wait 20 minutes and we were next in line! And I'm honestly frustrated because this is a great place but their customer service has been terrible the last few times I've been here. I'm considering going...
Read moreWorst all-around experience, wish we could give a negative rating. This was our second time trying out Sea King Seafood Market and we should have learned our lesson the first time. We first went to Sea King last year when we moved to Ellicott City, called in a dozen of steamed crabs and a pound of shrimp over phone. When we arrived to pick at the discussed time they said we were late and they didn't have the order ready. Being new to the neighborhood, we waited for the order. Food was nothing to write home about. Fast forward to today, we decide to give it another go. Employee was not knowledgeable and had to call over, I guess the manager, to answer simple questions. We asked about the extra large crabs, at $93 a dozen, and were told that they sell a mix of extra large and large and the supplier sorts the sizes so there is no guarantee what size we will get. Asked for 8 extra large crabs and were told they only sell by the half or whole dozen. So instead of the manager making the money for 8 crabs we only bought a half dozen, guess there was an issue doing the math. We got the crabs home and 3 of the 6 were either undone or dead, take a look at the meat in the images. Ordered shrimp and they were bland just like the 3 good crabs since apparently they make their own seasoning. Also ordered the cream of crab soup and every single bite had a shell in it. We have learned our lesson and will never go back there. I hope you find this review useful and if you do decide to go please post a review as well. Hopefully enough reviews will assist this company with correcting their...
Read moreThe food was very below average and unfortunately the only seafood that you can get that isnt fried is the crabcakes and crabs. I was not expecting that all of the seafood was fried since it does not say that anywhere on their menu. As for the food...
I tried the King of the Sea platter. All of the seafood was fried except for the crab cake. It came with a crab cake, fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried scallops and fried flounder. The fried shrimp was over cooked, tough and not good at all. The fried flounder was just ok. The fried oysters were perfect and the fried scallops were absolutely buttery delicious. As for the crab cake, it was good but filled with a bit of filler and no many shell pieces in it.
I also tried the ribs with dry rub which had no flavor, they were super tough and had no flavor. Tried getting a side of their BBQ sauce but it was awful and mainly ketchup. Just no.
For the sides I tried the fries, mac & cheese, deviled eggs and baked beans. The fries were perfect, crispy and battered. The macaroni & cheese was some premade cheess sauce, it is fine, but nothing near real cheese. The deviled eggs were perfect, the flavor was on point! The baked beans were awful and in their awful bbq sauce they used on the ribs which is mainly ketchup.
Over all the food isn't that great, I'm disappointed that all of the seafood is fried. The service was pretty good though. They do have crabs by the piece that you can dine in and eat, they are all priced differently even though they do not have that stated...
