Food is REALLY good..wish I had taken pictures. The cashier was SUPER ACCOMODATING. He could tell I didn't understand how to order Mediterranean type of food and what would taste food together (they already have the meals planned but I didn't want certain options so he helped me). Their JASMINE RICE WAS TO DIE FOR!!! SOII YUMMMY!!! I'm SO TIERD of vegetables being OVERCOOKED, soggy, like they are and Qudoba or Double T...this culture is familiar with vegetarians (its not unique to eat vegetarian from time to time there) so they KNOW how to cook some veggies!!!! And they KNOW how to make HUMMUS (you think you've tasted hummus but you haven't until you've tried theirs)
My boyfriend liked their gyros, he said it wasn't the BEST hes had but it was pretty good and a large portion. As a vegetarian, I got the filafel gyro. It was good! (You have to really like filafel). The hummus platter is simply amazing and addicting with the warm bread and creamy hummus. YOU FEEL REALLY HEALTHY after eating here..but FULL!!! I LIKE how they have the SIDES and the add on ingredients sitting out in front of u buffer kind of style (the cashier adds to the food after the cooks make it in the back) so last touches, or what they call the "Expediting" in resteraunt lingo, is done IN FRONT OF YOU!!
Nora's Cafe closed down (not cuz business was bad, but the owners of the actual building that included OTHER PLACES besides Noras "shut everyone down" in a sense). The owners of Nora's cafe had already started Noras Kabob place, that they continued even though Nora's Cafe was gone (and THAT was amazing..you didn't know anyone who did not go there to Noras CAFE in Ellicott City and like it) The reason why the kabob place is smaller than their cafe and doesn't have as much traffic flow, is cuz the food is more unique and cultural...like you have to really want a Kavob or gyro.. They'd probably get more business if they added burgers to the menu or hot pastas like they did at Nora's Cafe. But I think that's a terrible idea. It would distract from the cultural feel of the place, the uniqueness and quaintness of it, and possibly not help them focus as well on...
Read moreWe only order online. We order every weekend primarily because of 2 things. The AMAZING desserts ( Creme Brûlée with berries and the Chocolate lovers) and the cold appetizer option of Cheese and Olives. But last week we had a big issue with the dessert. The creme Brûlée was spoiled. It had curdled and was grainy and had separated into liquid and mush and the berries had over ripened. It was not edible. I went back to order today and then saw that they had taken off the Cheese and Olive appetizer. what happened?!! Is that off the menu permanently? it is the one dish that I felt set it apart most from other Mediterranean and besides the dessert it is the reason I now wanted to return each weekend when ordering. Because of that not being available and for the issue with the berries dessert we did not render again this weekend. To be fair, the Chocolate lovers dessert was amazing as always last week. But PLEASE bring back the cheese with olive appetiser and if possible, add an option to add more items to that so it could be a meal or at least a charcuterie board. That would beat the competition hands down. The last question I have is why not offer a true Dolmade dish ( stuffed grape leaves with MEAT instead of just rice? It would be another feature that would elevate the mezzo options. Maybe you could offer both? There is a Greek place we also order from and they are the only ones I can find that offer the meat stuffed grape leaves. If this restaurant would continue to offer the cheese and olive platter and offer meat Dolmades, we would continue to reorder. And we hope they never discontinue the Berry Creme Brûlée. (Please just make sure it is fresh when sending it out for delivery.) Thank you so much! I will check back to see if perhaps my suggestions made a difference so we can continue to reorder and spread the word about the awesome food...
Read moreThe portions are nothing like the pictures! Very misleading. With the name Kabob in it, I was expecting a typical good sized portion of Kabob on a stick with all the usual trimmings. We ordered a Kabob meal came with half rice and half salad. We received a few pieces of steak (pretty dry) in cubed cut on a plate, with 85% of the plate occupied with white basmati rice and salad. I'm a bit disappointed with the small portion of Kabob meat on the plate! Mostly rice and salad. It should have been called rice and salad with Kabob instead. The plate was mostly filled with the rice and salad instead.
One friend ordered the lamb chops. He received no sides at all. It was 4 pieces small and I mean tiny (must have been a very small lamb) bone in lamb chops. The portion is more like an appetizer not an entree. Very disappointing! One member had to share their mostly rice and salad to him, lacking any sides at all.
I ordered the grilled octopus chefs special. I received 2 tentacles of octopus (quite dry). One was 4 inches long and the other a better 6 inches long. That was it! The plate was 95% salad and tomatoes romaine lettuce and a few olives and 2 slices of lemon.
I was quite disappointed with the meals we received. The waitress was in good attendance. (It was a small place} the whole meal costing about $67.00 definitely not worth the money. A couple of hours later I was hungry.
Very disappointing. For the price we paid it was not work it at all. It seems like for is not prepared fresh. It was prepared early on and under heart lamps or the warmers. Hence the dryness of the food. We will not be coming back.
I give it only 2 stars only because the waitress...
