Disappointed by Poor Service and Disrespectful Treatment

As a healthcare professional who works long, demanding hours, I often stop by local businesses to grab a quick bite after I rest from my shift. Today, I stopped by this bagel shop mid-morning, hoping for a simple, welcoming experience. Unfortunately, what I encountered was deeply disappointing.

Not only was the customer service cold and inattentive, but there were also clear signs of biased treatment. I didn't notice that it was a hand written sign requesting customer to acknowledge the staff to toast their bagel, I was never asking but if I buy a breakfast with eggs and cheese bagel why I should be know that I need to ask for that. Then when heard that another customer was inquired by the person collecting the payment I just make clear that of course I want my bagel to be warm and toast and I received a very mean and nasty response. As a customer investing in your store just a simple acknowledgment. There was no excuse for the dismissive tone or the reluctance to serve me, especially when the shop was not busy. It felt personal and as uncomfortable as it is to say, it seemed racially motivated.

No one should be made to feel like they don’t belong especially in a public place where respect and basic courtesy should be standard. I expected better from a neighborhood business. I hope the owner who was the one displaying this inappropriate behavior and staff reflect on how they treat all customers, regardless. No wonder why was empty!

To be named Manhattan Bagels is an insult to actual Manhattan Bagel shops. I originally stopped at this location in the summer and the food was ok, the staff was nice and the order (which was a few breakfast sandwiches) was ready pretty quickly. So today, in the mood for avocado toast I decided to go back. First, I received an attitude and way too much confusion from the cashier because she didn’t know what avocado toast was. It’s not rocket science. It’s toasted bread with avocado. After I explained it to her she brushes me aside as if she’s bothered and takes other orders. I waited 15 minutes and then got upset and cancelled the order. People were getting bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches (multiple orders btw) who ordered AFTER ME and still no toast with avocado. Then when I cancel the order the guy cooking the food gives me an attitude bc I cancelled. Yea never going back. I rather drive to NY.

I got a ham, egg, and cheese on everything bagel. Bagel was so-so. When I get food from a restaurant, deli, etc. I don't expect to have to make it myself. The bagel was cut through probably 70 - 75%. All the ingredients were stuffed into whatever portion of the bagel that was cut.

It was so sloppy that i removed the ingredients and finished cutting the bagel myself, then put the ingredients back in as neatly as possible.

Chef must have been incredibly busy to make a sandwich this sloppy. If you're getting breakfast, go somewhere else. They may be good for a bagel and cream cheese, but after looking at their vast menu, I would hesitate to order most sandwiches from there ever again.
