This is a newly opened restaurant, it is byob is also mentioned on its website. The only drink they offer for now is water, mango lassi and they did make us sweet lassi as special request and they made it happen, which was nice. So if you don’t like any of those options, bring something or there is a store in the plaza when you pull in for the restaurant. The restaurant is a decent size, and was pretty busy on a weekend, we were a group of 10. Menu is straight forward and not lengthy like a lot of other restaurants nowadays which to me is a plus. For appetizers, we ordered onion bhajiya (we didn’t like it, if you don’t order it you’re not missing much) CHILI GOBI IS A MUST TRY!! We loved it, super flavorful, crunchy, you should order it. We ordered mix grill and haryali chicken, and like another review had mentioned— the non veg apps came out to table kinda cold. We were hungry and the taste was good, the chicken was tender. So the only problem we saw and didn’t complain about it was because there was only 1 person waiting on everyone name Austin and reading the reviews he’s also the owner? He even came to apologize twice about the wait but we can clearly see him working hard and managing everything. We ordered paneer butter masala 4/5 and dal tadka which was really good 5/5 , both goat Rogan Josh and chicken kolkapuri 5/5 , garlic naans, rotis, and laccha paratha came out good. We did try their moong dal halwa, kulfi, and custard. Personally kulfi was my favorite. I would suggest them to get more help for the front. I would go again to try the indo Chinese menu now. I would recommend you give this...
Read moreWhile visiting from out of state, my daughter and I were on the hunt for some good authentic Indian food to satisfy her craving. A quick search led us to The Spice Room, which stood out with its stellar reviews on Google — and now, I completely understand why.
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. I appreciated the modern touch of using iPads for menus — clean, convenient, and easy to browse. The customer service was outstanding. What really impressed me was seeing the owner himself actively taking orders and serving tables. That level of involvement speaks volumes about the care and dedication behind the scenes.
We started with the garlic naan, which was perfectly charred, soft, and loaded with real garlic — absolutely fresh and flavorful. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, and I can honestly say it was the best I’ve ever had. Rich, creamy, perfectly spiced — a comfort dish done right. My daughter had the butter chicken along with a mango lassi, and she couldn’t stop raving about how delicious everything was.
Though we’re not local, The Spice Room has earned a permanent spot on our list of must-visit places whenever we’re in town. It’s hard to believe this restaurant is less than a year old — they were buzzing with guests even on a Wednesday night, which is always a good sign.
Wishing the owner and the entire team continued success. They’re clearly doing something...
Read moreWe happened to be in Elmwood park and were looking for an Indian restaurant. So, we stumbled upon the Spice Room and decided to give it a try. We were a party of 5 and didn't have a reservation as this dinner was not planned. When we entered the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the owner (Austin), who not only accommodated us, but guided some of us through the menu choices. He took our order and we literally embarked on a divine cuisine journey from then on. The appetizers, the entrees, the desert, and the masala chai, were all delicious and aesthetically pleasing! We feasted with our eyes first and then savored the dishes with our palate. The dishes were a combination of vegetarian and non veg dishes and at this point I am so confident that no matter what you order, you would not regret it. I do have to highlight one major aspect of our dining experience on that Friday evening of May 16th. Austin, the owner was outstanding in his hospitality, his eye for details and sincere desire to please was abundantly clear! He made our evening quite a memorable one and we actually wished that this restaurant was in Bridgewater, NJ. In the closing, I would like to congratulate Austin, his chef, and his staff on a perfect execution of hospitality from the heart! I wish them many more success and hope to see them in the near future. God bless and cheers!! Warm...
