Golden Wok Super Buffet&Sushi&Hibachi Grill — Restaurant in Emporia

Front desk guy with the glasses is horrible! We eat there all the time! And everytime he tells us as we walk through the door. 20 minutes before they close. That we need to get order to go! I argued with him last time and told him we wanted to sit down and we would be happy to eat whatever was left on buffet! We didn't even ask them to make anything. Just ate what was left out. Which wasn't much! At 9:00 on the dot. He made it a point to come over and tell us. That they were closed! I said. We haven't asked them to make us anything special. And we were just about done with our meal! We were paid and out of there by 9:05! And was was visibly pissed because we were their 5 minutes after they were closed! I thanked them and gave them a good 20% tip on buffet! This week we went back again as quickly as we could after my sons basketball practice. Again 20 minutes before they closed! He again said only carry out! I said we have 20 minutes before you close. He said not enough time for you to eat here! Only carry out! I told him that he needs to turn off his OPEN sign then! It's unfortunate because EVERYONE EXCEPT the guy behind the front desk is nice and inviting! I eat lunch there atleast twice per week. And my son love Chinese buffet too. So I take him after every practice. Wish Emporia had another option! We WON'T be back there ever again. Front desk guy with glasses is just WAY TO RUDE! Delicious authentic Chinese food at a great price. Their buffet feature several different styles of Chinese food. They always have the fan favorites available at all times and usually also have specialities that vary and you never know what might be there. One time was crawfish, sometimes it's crab legs, and sometimes it clams or oysters. The food is always super delicious and the staff take really good care of you. They are always on top of drink refills and take away finished dishes very quickly. The place is very clean and the original family who opened it years ago came back and the food and service is amazing again. If you are in the mood for Chinese I would definitely recommend the Emporia China Buffet to anyone even remotely close to stop in and give it a try. I will drive an hour to there JUST to eat there. The prices are extremely reasonable and you can take as many trips back to the buffet to your heart's content. You should not leave hungry...if you do...

Went to Golden Wok after renovations. Pretty much the same as old location with the following changes- sushi bar that had California roll, shrimp roll, a shrimp type mousse roll, and another i didn’t try. It also had a seaweed salad, seafood salad, wasabi, and ginger. Sushi was ok. Rice wasn’t seasoned like most sushi restaurants I’ve gone to but my 8yo daughter liked it. Decor has changed a bit, a few things on menu differ & more fresh fruit. Still has freezing cold bathrooms & water to wash your hands, & broken stall doors so you cant lock it. They’ve changed the crab rangoon for the worst IMO & I’m missing some of my fave dishes. But all in all seems to have better food & smells cleaner than used to.
