I had the most delightful experience at French Corner Café in Encinitas today, and I just had to share! As a French native visiting from France, I was looking for a little taste of home, and this charming café did not disappoint. My friend and I both ordered crêpes, and they were absolutely delicious—so authentic, it took me right back to France!
The real highlight, though, was the owner, Alexandra. From the moment we stepped inside, she made us feel so welcome and at home. Her warmth and hospitality were truly special, and she even gave us some fantastic tips for exploring around the city. You can tell she puts her heart and soul into her business, and it shines through in every aspect of the café, from the cozy ambiance to the incredible food.
If you’re in the area, I cannot recommend French Corner Café enough. Whether you’re craving an authentic French crêpe, looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a coffee, or just want to feel like you’re in France for a moment, this place is a must-visit. And if you’re lucky enough to meet Alexandra, you’ll understand why this place is so special.
Thank you, Alexandra, for such a wonderful experience—I will...
Read moreFirst off, the owner of the place is horrendously rude to her customers and staff. I went in and tried to order one of her sandwiches and was explaining what I want and don't want on the sandwich and she then took an attitude with me because I was holding up the line; the line consisting of two people behind me. Then after I order I wait outside for what seemed like half an hour before the food is delivered and to my surprise the bread was stale and some of the greens on my sandwich were browning. Second, the prices are ridiculous for food that isn't that great, I can go to the French bakery up by Ralph's for cheaper and have good food instead of being robbed for mediocre food at best. Third, the restaurant doesn't have a dish washer, that's correct, NO dishwasher. All the dishes are hand washed and then dried, to me that is disgusting and the plates could very well still have contaniments from sitting in a basin with other dirty dishes. Finally I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, save your money and go elsewhere where you are treated kindly by management while being served better...
Read moreWent for lunch with a friend on June 28th, the line was out the door when we first got there. It's really awkward, because people are coming out of the doorway after they order and the people waiting to order are also using the same tight doorway. Not a good impression. Excuse me, oh, excuse me, oh pardon me. Not a good start. The young man taking the orders was obviously really really new, no greeting, no personality, no voice, maybe he was scared? Strange to say the least. We ate in the back, there is a nice patio that is hidden, west of where you order. Nice and quiet and perfect for conversation. I ordered the daily special, think it was chicken salad in a sandwich, my friend ordered a ham sandwich. They were good. I think we missed out on the real specialities - we saw the most delicious coffee's getting served and bakery items that make your mouth water. I will go back, give them another chance and try the bakery items. 3 stars for service and awkward...
