Aware Coffee is an up-and-coming coffee date location in an up-and-coming part of town... (lots of construction happening on this section of Rainbow off of Blue Diamond)
At the moment, the parking spaces directly in front of the location are taken up by what looks like an empty but pleasant patio area. I was assured by staff that outdoor furniture shopping and planning is underway. Though this limits the parking spaces in what, I'm assuming and hoping for the sake of the businesses along this commercial strip, will be a busy parking lot... the outdoor patio will eventually be a nice area to work, chat, soak in the rays.
I was greeted and helped along with the choice-making by Jalen, "named after Jalen Rose!"
She assured me that my choice of rose milk tea was gonna be a good one, and talked me through the selection of freshly-made-on-the-daily donuts, explaining that the flavors change (monthly? I think!). It was a tough choice between pistachio white chocolate and dirty thai tea.
My rose milk green tea was frothy splendor for sure, and felt VERY special :)
My pistachio milk chocolate donut didn't quite taste pistachio-y nor white chocolate-y-- just very sugary... which makes me wonder if the dirty thai tea would've had a stronger and possibly more fulfilling flavor? The donut itself was... chewy. Very chewy. Not my preferred texture for donuts.
Jalen and the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful, and the vibe of the shop is absolutely chill. There were plenty of chairs and tables, even without the outdoor patio, this environment seems to have ample space. I noticed another part of the main dining area had a drop-down level that was an empty concrete shell at the moment, perhaps furniture shopping and decorating will also happen for this area? It will be interesting to see how Aware Coffee will develop! I look forward to their...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have spent the last year and a half traveling and working out of coffee shops in 48 different States. Hands down this place is in the top 10 coffee shops in the country.
Where to start... The atmosphere right when you walk in is calm and cosy but not so cosy that you want to fall asleep instead of being productive. The place was filled with weekend warriors working, studying, and reading. Plenty of seating and power plugs for laptops. The WiFi was was also fast for the number of people connected to it.
The breakfast burrito was amazing! Let me preface this with the vast majority of breakfast burritos at coffee shops in this country taste like they just came out of the freezer and were heated up. This one tasted fresh like it was just made. This thing was like the size of two 16oz coffee cups stacked on top of eachother and only $6.50! Bravo!
There was clearly a lot of planning and detail that went into the design and layout of this place. One clue is the lack of outlets in what I would describe as the "group conversation" tables. You don't end up with that one person taking up a large group table by themselves with their laptop. The outlets are literally everwhere else, including the concrete "amphitheater" type seating.
As for the coffee, it was well brewed. There are a wide range of milk and milk-alternative options. They had whole / 1%, breve (steamed half and half), oat milk, almond milk, and coconut milk. Any coffee place that has coconut milk gets a +1 bonus point in my book.
After working out of a few other coffee shops around Las Vegas, I began thinking there was nowhere in town to avoid the "unsavory" characters. I would describe the clientele at Aware Coffee as more "refined" than anywhere else in town we have...
Read moreI wish I was local! You would probably see me here multiple times a week. Great staff, ambiance, and food+drinks. Brightly lit and decent seating. (What's up with the bleacher design in Vegas cafés??)
Tired and famished, I scarfed down a breakfast burrito, Vietnamese coffee-flavored mochi donut, and jasmine honey milk tea. The breakfast burrito was pretty filling, especially at the price point it was. I asked for extra salsa and they did not disappoint. Basically a steal. The mochi donuts are made in-house too!
Despite being full off of the burrito, I wanted to nibble away at the mochi donut-- and ended up staring at my empty table in disbelief three minutes later. I'm still at a loss for words because I had to attend to my grief even days after. Maybe that's a good thing.
For my drink, I gave pointers on what I was craving, and the barista did an awesome job choosing what to make for me. The tea was smooth and fragrant, which was a pleasant surprise, given that coffee shops usually don't carry decent teas.
My ride came to pick me up eventually and ordered a taro smoothie with boba, along with a matcha mochi donut. Comparing the matcha vs. Vietnamese coffee, they're both solid flavors but my preference was for that chocolate-coffee pair with the donut taste+texture. Even the next day both donuts were pretty good to snack on.
Talk to the staff. Pick their brains on coffee 🤓
Thanks so much for the...
