About a brief morning outing, we decided to stop at Bojangles for breakfast. I'd had the chicken sandwich before and remember it as pretty good and so was looking forward to having another.
We placed our order in the drive-thru with presumably a new employee who was under supervision. We were directed to the 1st window where we paid and declined the receipt. That was our 1st mistake.
We were met at the 2nd window by an employee identified as "Jolene" (I'm not sure of the spelling as I did not see her name tag). Jolene began by misidentifying us. We gave the correct name. She appeared to ignore that and recited the order presumably connected to the earlier misidentification. We said no and repeated our order at which Jolene leans forward to proclaim loudly enough for the entire staff, the other drive-thru patrons, and probably the entire block that we had not paid.
The smirk on her face and the loudness and implication in her tone made me immediately uncomfortable. I knew that my wife sensed it too, but she explained to Jolene that we had indeed paid at the 1st window but had declined a copy of the receipt.
Jolene would not accept that and informed us repeatedly that we hadn't paid and could pay again via her window. I quickly pulled up the banking app on my phone and showed the pending payment to Jolene, who dismissed it, saying that 1., it was just a pending charge which meant that its hadn't actually been paid, and 2., that the pending amount was incorrect, again with the insinuation we were trying to get away with something.
It was clear at this point that the 1st window had charged us incorrectly despite verifying the order with us. None of the obvious seemed to impress itself upon Jolene, who continued to insist we weren't to get our order until we paid. My wife repeatedly asked to be refunded before repaying, but Jolene was adamant, the proverbial absolute blunt object, the perfect sentry to post OUTSIDE the gates.
Another employee, an AA young woman, tried to untangle the situation, but deescalation from the perspective of the self-righteous (Jolene) isn't a thing that happens easily. About this point, the supervisor (the one overseeing the ordering process) appeared, and Jolene rushed to relay our suspected crime. He listened to her, looked at the monitor, and listened to my wife's (at this point a Phoenix in full and fiery bloom) explanation. I overhear Jolene say, "I'm walking away from this," with what sounds to me a tone filled with indignation, rancor, and the confirmation that comes of having biases affirmed.
To his credit, the supervisor tried to quickly mitigate the situation by producing our order. My wife, smoldering at the abrasions, refused the food and requested again to be refunded. This supervisor's calm and helpful attitude is the reason I'm giving this review two stars...

The much anticipated opening of Bojangles is finally here, but....And yes, there are a few "Buts." First off the are no "bone-in" chicken items on the menu. Unlike the original Bojangles restaurants, Bojangles corpoprate has subtly gone to all boneless menu items. I am sure this does not sit well with long-time Bojangles aficionados. This is a decision that is good for the bottom line but be a bit much to accept for the long time faithful Bojangles customer, the order I had was the chicken sandwich and was actually quite tasty using a boneless chicken tender and 2 pickles a dime size squirt of included sauce. I opted to add for free some "Bo sauce,' (Available only upon request. This spiced up the otherwise all too common breaded chicken sandwich. Bojangles marketing has purposely left out the option to purchase just the sandwich only on its in-house menu marquee. You can buy the sandwich only, but have to ask for it. I asked the very pleasant owner, (Jennette) why this was omitted from the marquee menu inside. It was stated that corporate marketing wants you to buy the combo of course. It's like Starbucks does not marquee a small, (tall) on their menu. Hummm. I understand restaurant pricing has risen significantly and Bojangles is not immune to vendor price hikes. Let's compare "Chicken sandwiches only," no add-ons. Bojangles = $6.79. Chic-fil-a = $6.49, KFC =- $5.49, and Popeyes = $4.99. These are all run of the mill breaded chicken sandwiches and although Bojangles is the most expensive, it was really quite tasty. I guess you get what you pay for, "But," charging .79 for lettuce and tomato is yet agin, corporate marketing. There are some unique features going on here like the handmade, (and I do mean Handmade) biscuits.) You can see the workers showcased behind plate glass hand making this from scratch. Also, the Berry milkshake is another unique item. If you want the biggest menu item, (20 pc tenders, 8 biscuits, 4 "fixers" and 1 gal tea) expect to pay over $56.00. Hummm.
Summary, Bojangles is a clean well run restaurant with homemade biscuits, and an all boneless chicken menu. Although I am not an advocate of fast food and yes, this is "Fast food," it is comparable to its rivals in menu and slightly higher in price. If you want a quick and tasty chicken sandwich, then yes, this works. If you want some non-corporate driven menu then look elsewhere. If they only had the original bone-in menu items they would garner a better score. Shame on Bojangles corporate for making changes that benefit them and not...
Read moreAs a fan of Bojangles' and growing up in the Carolinas it's hard for me to give them this 3 Stars , but I have good reasons to. This is not your typical Bojangles' of the South. This should be called Bojangles' Express. How can you not have Bone-In Chicken ? I was so excited last year to hear y'all were coming to Las Vegas and I remember seeing the SUV's at the Bellagio with the Bojangles' wraps on them for the big meeting. I work there. I was telling everyone how you were going to run Popeye's and KFC out of business in Vegas !
I knew this location wouldn't have Cheerwine , the North Carolina Cherry Soda , for those who haven't heard of it. I also knew you wouldn't have the Country Ham Biscuit , which again if you don't know is a dry salt cured ham that is delicious. I was surprised you do have the Biscuits and Gravy. Another surprise is no Cajun Chicken Biscuit which is my favorite and loved by so many of my friends and family back home , wow , that one really surprised me. Even Chick-fil-A has a Spicy Chicken Biscuit. You guys are missing the mark with these things.
Now where does this location shine , well first thing you walk in the door and you are greeted with a friendly smile and hi. I ate in the dining area and they did this with every customer which is a true Southern Custom that we learned growing up even did this when I worked at McDonald's when I was a teenager in South Carolina. The Bo-Berry Biscuits were made perfectly and melted in your mouth just like they do in the Carolinas. My Sweet Tea was on point and perfect , not too sweet and not weak tasting. I got the Steak Biscuit which was good , but I have to say Hardee's Steak Biscuit is better , but we don't have Hardee's here and Carl's Jr doesn't sell them. The place was spotless and I saw not one , but 2 ladies clean the dining area while I was there. Sweeping , moping , cleaning tables , it was great to see that when so many fast food places in town the tables look like they haven't been cleaned in days.
I will go back and try the Chicken Tenders and Sides of course. I know a lot of people are saying they didn't want another Cane's selling just Chicken Tenders and wanted the Bone-In Chicken. I wish this location and the others to open much success. I hope maybe they will change their mind and later add the missing pieces to their menu , at the least the Cajun Chicken Biscuit. I do like the window with the ladies making the biscuits which I saw in Laurinburg , NC at Biscuitville and thought that was...
