I live in Utah and was really excited to visit Cafe Lola on our new years get away trip being that it’s such a hype on social media.
We got there, and got in line to order though we weren’t sure of what to order yet (but no one was behind us so we decided to stay in the line. When it was our turn we told the girl that we were still deciding (there was still no one behind us) and she was a bit rude and told us to sit down and come up when we were ready to order, which I was a little caught off guard as there was no one waiting in line so why it bugged her, I am not sure 🤷🏻♀️ we ordered and waited about 1 hour in total for our order of food. My friend got her orange juice about 15 after we ordered the orange juice was 3/4 full (a bit low for the norm I think and I got my hot chocolate maybe 5-7 mins after that. My friend got her meal ( Basic bacon, egg avocado breakfast) 20 mins after. I got up to get her silverware and there were no more forks. I asked one of the girls that were working for a fork and I got an eye roll and attitude which again.. caught me off guard as the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. I ordered the creme brûlée French toast & I got my food almost 20 mins after my friend got her meal. So we didn’t even get to eat together. There were people that came way after I ordered and they got their order before me. So that was a bit frustrating.
As we waited, we observed the staff and no one had a smile on their face. No one seemed like they wanted to be there, maybe it was because it was New Year’s Eve day? Also when someone would finish, the tables were not properly cleaned. They would leave the splash of coffee and crumbs of the food. And the funny thing was that when new customers arrived and sat themselves, they waited for someone to clean the table but the tables was supposedly already cleaned. It was really sad to see such a beautiful and creative aesthetic cafe have a service that didn’t match the vibe of the place.
Coming from out of state , it was discouraging experience with the customer service, however I can say, dispute the food being cold for the breakfast, my friend said it was still good. And my creme brûlée was good as well. The orange juice was great despite the amount and hot chocolate was a bit cold but still good. I’m not sure if I would go back as this was a...
Read more10/5/25: Updated Review Cafe Lola deserves an updated Review. After my negative experience, I still returned and visited the Eastern location. Service at Rainbow was great my last 3 visits. The last 2 visits, I had the Mimosa Flight. I noticed they changed their menu. Bummer because my favorite dish is no longer served. This time around I brought 5 other friends with me. I purchased a bottle of Bubbles aka Prosecco and my friends ordered Macaroons, potato chips and chips with guacamole. I ordered The Lox Toast and Monte Cristo. The Lox was delicious however, the Monti Cristo was meh. It was cut into 4 pieces and I only ate 1 and my friend ate 1.
Personally, I'd like to see the old dishes again. I don't see Burrata on the menu anywhere. On my other visit, I ordered the Bae Toast and added bacon. That was delicious.
My friends and I enjoyed our time and would recommend Cafe Lola.
‐-----------------------‐----------------------------- Old Review.... I'm always excited to dine here. This time around, I came with 4 other ladies. This updated review I based on my last visit and how my friends felt from the service they got at the counter. I was next to my friend since she ordered after me. My friend asked for recommendations, and the worker responded negatively. I didn't hear what she said. But, the next thing, my friend ordered the Bottomless Mimosa. The workers response "You will have 2 hours, and WE will be watching you." My friend responded with,"I am not going to be drinking for 2 hours." I get the 2 hour limit, but to say we're going to be watching you is out right, RUDE.
I truly enjoy and have had great customer experience, but now I see why people rate the restaurant low due to customer service.
OLD REVIEW: This location is so much better than the others. First, customer service. The front counter worker smiled and greeted me. Yes, more welcoming. Order at the counter, then have a seat. The restaurant is spacious, and the decor is cute. I love all the pink and purple flowers.
Food: Burrata & Prosciutto Toast Avocado & Egg Salad Sammy
The Burrata toast is my favorite. It has a jam spread and green apples with balsamic vinegar. The flavors worked so well together.
I will definitely return to this...
Read moreI came for breakfast today. First impression was that this place is very well decorated. The food, however, was problematic.
I spent roughly $20 for an americano, chocolate croissant, and the Granny Sammy (up-charge for a flake of avocado).
The Granny Sammy tasted like a lower-quality, higher-priced version of the McDonald's Egg McMuffin, yet it doesn't even come with meat. Bacon is roughly a $5 dollar up-charge. Avocado, too, is an up-charge, which was very disappointing considering how small an amount I received. The avo looked like left over scraps. The english muffin was not "toasted" as described, and the entire "Sammy" tasted rubbery and very much microwaved.
The chocolate croissant was decent. Although, I suspect they buy them already baked from a third party.
Lastly, the Americano was ruined. Pretty difficult to screw up an americano, but they managed to do it. They served it so hot that it melted the wax from the cup. As it cooled, the wax congealed and there were hundreds of visible, floating chunks of cup wax in my coffee. I couldn't finish it. I left the cup about 80% full before exiting the cafe. In the future, if someone orders an americano, put ice in the bottom of the cup to prevent the wax melt. Not too much ice, otherwise it won't be hot enough. Just enough ice to prevent burned tongues and cup wax melt.
Note: I asked for a "for here" mug, but they do not even offer those. Which is highly surprising given how much money they obviously spent on interior design. Even the most basic, hole in the wall coffee shops offer "for here" mugs.
All in all, I could have gone to McDonalds for a better meal at a quarter of the price. I would not recommend Cafe Lola and do not plan to willingly...
