Don Tortaco Mexican Grill #5 — Restaurant in Nevada

I’ve been going to this Don Tortaco for over a year and have had all great experiences up until last night. Normally there is an older gentleman that works the register, he’s not necessarily a ball of joy, but he is friendly and helpful. The food has also always been on point.

However, last night I had the worst experience ever. When I drove up to place my order, a rude lady took my order. Every time I’d finish adding one item (I was ordering for two) she’d quickly and rudely ask “anything else” in a tone that made it seem like my order was an extreme inconvenience for her. When I drove up to the window she was short with me and completely aloof. In my opinion, it appeared that she was on some kind of drugs. We had ordered two horchatas and she gave us those first — thank goodness she did, I tasted mine and it tasted like water with a dash of cinnamon. Absolutely revolting. When she gave me my food, I asked her to replace my drink since the horchata was disgusting. Not sure if she was deaf, stupid, or flat out ignoring me but I had to repeat myself three times before she finally got the message and exchanged my drink. She had a face of pure contempt and didn’t say a word, even though I was waiting for her to ask me “anything else.”

When we got home, we opened our food and it was the worst prepared food I’ve ever seen. It looked like a four year old had put our food together, either that or a drunk chef with mittens for hands. The chips and guacamole legit had one splat of guacamole in the center. The rolled tacos had zero cheese and sauce, just lying dormant and sad, covered in greasy oil. My girlfriends chimichanga was completely burnt and assembled like a pig trough.

Between the horrible service and horrible food, I’ve lost my faith in this Don Tortaco. Granted, this isn’t a 5-star restaurant and I’m doubtful ownership will neither read this nor make any necessary changes, it’s worth noting to my fellow neighbors who frequent this spot. Ownership needs to fire whatever team was there last night and that team needs to take a hard look at their employable skills, maybe find a new industry, and definitely work on an attitude adjustment or they will find themselves continuing to work at fast food drive throughs at midnight...

I have been to this place twice now and while I can't remember what I got the first time. If I would have got the rolled taco Special the first time it would have been my last time. So yes I went there because I remembered seeing a special for $5.99 for 5 rolled tacos and a drink. Sounds like a deal and I usually go to Roberto's for these so I figured you can't get these wrong. So I order the special with a side of beans and cheese and a side of rice. First tell me why this came up to almost $17.00? The special was $5.99 and came with the drink. Anyways I didn't argue the price, I took it home and I am within walking distance from my house and drove there. Only making this point due to the quality of the product. The rolled taco special had almost No toppings on it,a smear of guacamole and sour cream and cheese. Than the outside shell was very chewy while the meat inside was dried out and the meat was kinda crispy and flaky. The beans were edible, but the rice was a brownish color and I took 1 bite and was the WORST Mexican rice I have ever had. I feed it to the dogs,in fact they are all the rice and most of the rolled taco's. Roberto's has no worries about competition...

NO!!!! This is BAD food! THe cheese enchilada was a tortilla with grated cheese in it and it wasn't even melted...just grate cheese. I cut into the beef burrito and water poured out. It was like boiled beef and green pepper sin there. THe refied beans had no flavor and the rice had not flavor or color. ZERO flavor . I had chips and quac n chees too. Again, the chees was just grated cheese thrown on top. the guac was 5 out of 10. I asked the boss if he ever ate here- he said every day- I sad this food is horrible. Could I plese get a refund of some sort since I only took 5 bites. He said no...he had never heard any complaints- Just look online at the stellar reviews- he siad. Well, I see it has 3 stars. I should have checked online BEFORE going there. Still Resturants usually give you a refund if you complain and don't actually eat the food.
