I forgot my lunch yesterday so decided to try Opulicious. I walked in and definitely had not looked at the menu when I asked about their kimchi and seaweed salad. The lady who took my order was very patient and recommended the kimchi-style ahi tuna. It was sooo good. One of the employees let me try it while I was waiting, and I knew she had made a good rec.
I got the teriyaki chicken plate with ahi tuna and Mac salad. The chicken was well-prepared, skin on so you could get that crunchy fatty goodness. I’m not an expert, but it seeeems like they prep the chicken themselves from a whole chicken? It gave the chicken a good texture and fresh taste. Teriyaki sauce was flavorful without being overbearing and sticky. Seems like they’ve got the right combo. Ahi tuna had a good texture and flavor. It had time to marinate without it diminishing the integrity of the fish.
The plate was really big and filling, so I’m having it for lunch on day 2 also. Would recommend. Good vibes. Nice people. Willing to recommend to you based on your preferences if you...
Read moreUpon entering I was greeted with great customer service. Asked if I had any questions regarding the menu. I didn't, as I knew I was missing the only true place I have ever felt at home, so I was thoroughly familiar with the menu. You pay at the front counter, find seating, and the food is brought out to you.
I opted for their chicken katsu special. Comes with rice and their version of mac salad. This one has potato and olives. Nice change of pace. That chicken was cooked perfectly. Def helped lift my spirits. If they would have had POG I think I would have truly felt like I was back at some of the local restaurants on the beach, while the waves crash the rocks.
Interior is very clean. It is very covid evident with spacing, and staff wearing masks. Music was playing in the background.
Would recommend- pricing is reasonable for the portions you receive. Very hearty. They offer different specials, and on Sundays they have authentic...

TIP: When you enter into the parking go towards the Opulicious sign and go on the right side of the building.
2nd Tip: Check out the menu on the wall and order at the counter.
It felt so good to be in a restaurant playing Hawaiian music and of course I teared looking at the photos / decorations on the wall. #Exit8 #WahiawaGirl4Life
Food: Spicy Tuna Poke Shoyu Poke Garlic Chicken Smoked Pork Meat.
Here's my 2 favorites. The spicy tuna is like no other. The poke is fresh and I love the eel sauce (hope it was eel sauce) drizzled on top. We also had the shoyu poke which was good but I prefer the Spicy Tuna. The garlic chicken was good but my favorite was the smoked pork. The meat was tender and very flavorful. I loved every bite.
Overall, this restaurant is in my top restaurants I've...
