I had heard about the Prime Rib at Southpoint Hotel so my wife and I stopped there for dinner. We went to the Silverado Steak House. It was about 7:30 and we were seated right away. My wife ordered the ribs and a side of Brussel sprouts. I ordered the big Prime Rib med rare and the glazed carrots. The waiter Rey, was the bright spot of the meal. He brought me a hand tossed salad with crumbled blue cheese that was excellent, fresh cracked black pepper with a kick. He was the side waiter, a woman was our main waiter. The main course took awhile to arrive and I was disappointed that my Prime Rib was cooked med well, almost no pink, all brown. Prime Rib - are you kidding me - med well. I sent it back, the next piece was not near as big and was very rare. I could live with that but the piece they gave me was from the end and it was very chewy. This is honestly how chewy it was: I gave my wife a center cut bite and she chewed it for over a minute and then spit it out saying, âit is not worth the effortâ. I have to assume that was retaliation for me sending the first over cooked piece back to the kitchen. All in all I was very disappointed. The dinner was over $150 for the two of us and I felt like I waisted my money. I still left a decent tip because of Rey and the food quality was not their fault. But I will most likely never go back...
Read moreMy wife and I have visited this restaurant on many occasions, bringing family and friends visiting us and always have had great service and food - until last night. We brought a handicapped relative and his wife to experience that great service and food and were sorely disappointed and embarrassed. We were treated like pariahs by our server, Sue. I'm not sure why, maybe because we weren't wearing a jacket or tie and were wearing blue Jean's and polo shirts, or maybe it was a beard, or maybe it was the handicap. Whatever the reason, once we had placed our order, the only time we had any interaction with our server was to bring our food for us and to give us our bill, which we had to ask for. Never a visit to see how we were doing, never a visit to see if our food was ok, never a visit. She couldn't be bothered with us. Maybe it's because she assumed with how we dressed that the tip would be small. My wife paid the bill and gave her a 22% tip and when Sue saw the tip she was obviously very surprised. Frankly, so was I because I wouldn't have given her more than 10% for that terrible level of service. Whatever the reason, until we get an apology or some other interaction with you, we certainly wont be back and will ensure all of our friends and family know of...
Read moreOur favorite special occasion restaurant! Dry aged beef perfectly cooked to order, and you get a nice tossed salad and choice of baked, mashed or asparagus (get the baked; fluffy on the inside with a salty potato chip-like exterior.) For the last few years I've stuck with the boneless New York Strip, cooked medium rare, with just salt and pepper to season as far as I can tell. Incredibly juicy, and with that slight buttery funk you get from dry aging, it's just a sublime eating experience. My wife always gets the 12 oz prime rib, cooked medium, then light charred on the grill. Also a great dry aged cut and served with plenty of au jus and horseradish. We hear their other dishes are good (pork, lamb, chicken and seafood), but when we go to a steakhouse, we're getting beef. The service is always impeccable and the atmosphere is unapologetically old-school, which adds to the appeal for us. We can get a generous meal for two for around a hundred bucks, and we always feel like we've gotten a delicious, deeply satisfying bargain...
