Bro, treat your staff better. I get you only wanna work two days a week with an exclusive two day a week pizza joint, but you left your staff hanging. You should have shown up and helped out last night. It took 45 minutes just to get a beer, and two hours to get a pizza. Sure, we enjoyed talking with the customers that were waiting there with us, but we would have left after 20 minutes without any bar service had there been any other restaurants nearby to go to. It’s great that people are excited to be there. It’s fun to be somewhere where you feel exclusive. The people waiting told us the pizza was great. It was good. The Mexican ice cream brownie was the best though. But to have your staff be undermined like that was unsettling. It made us look like WE were ungrateful just because we just wanted a drink - and preferably before the regulars who snuck into the back room (adjacent coffee shop) after we arrived, but got served before us. “It is all you know.” It was also awkward to see one of the waiting guests go up to a table of four women who had sat at a table for six - with their foil covered leftovers - for over an hour after paying- to ask them to please leave the restaurant so others could have their table. Why weren’t they asked by the staff? Local celebrities? I do love that the art on the wall is for sale. Supporting local artists is great. The background music was good. The lighting was great. The unmatched silverware and the different old schoolhouse chairs look kitschy. The hard bench was uncomfortable. It’s all a very fun vibe, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that your bartender/host/server was worked way too hard and it made our experience difficult. It seemed like the crowd was half people who had come up to see the Fall color, and half were locals. It didn’t really seem like an uncommon crowd. I am sure you have served way more people in the summer. There were people in the kitchen but the bartender/host/server was left front of house to race around because she was literally unable to do the job well. It was too much to expect one person to do. That’s on management. Bad form. The three stars are for...
Read moreWe were visiting the area for my wife's birthday and she decided she wanted pizza. After looking up some possibilities I was struck by the 5.0 star ratings this place received. We arrived a little late in the evening and found the place hopping. They were definitively understaffed but that's not uncommon these days. Service was uneven but friendly. Upon ordering a pizza, we were told they only make a certain number of crusts per day and that they may be out. After checking, we were lucky enough to get the last dough of the evening. We order the "Apocalypse Wow" which has pepperoni, sausage, and hot giardiniera. My wife wasn't feeling well so we asked to hold the giardiniera. I have tried Detroit style pizza a couple of times and found it to be too doughy and lacking in flavor so I was interested to see if we were going to like this or not. When the pizza came out it was a thing of beauty. Lots of toppings and a beautifully caramelized crust. It did come out with the giardinera on it and we knew there was no more dough so we couldn't send it back. What a fantastic mistake. The flavors were so balanced and popped and the hot giardinera was not too hot and added such flavor to the pizza. Honestly this is one of the best pizzas I have ever had.
The vibe is eclectic and cool. Music was rocking and they had a really unique and varied beer selection. I think about coming back to Door county and having this pizza again...
Read moreI really was prepared to be disappointed, but this place really lives up to the hype. Best pizza in Door Co, and I would say significantly better than Wild Tomato in their prime. They know what they are doing by deciding what days of the week they will make pizza and only sharing it via Instagram. No take outs, no call ins, if you want the pie you have to come in and experience it.
They had 1 bartender and server working at 200 miles per hour, but it added to the loure
Its not fast, you’re going to be there awhile, but its an incredible place to enjoy. Don’t just go trying to be in a hurry.
This is the kind of place that will soon become so busy it would be visitable, so if you can get in, go now.
Well done Bad...
