Was excited for all the various cool sounding pierogi's, but when I tried to order they claimed that they were out of the two pierogis I wanted most (spinach and feta & Nutella and banana) even though their online menu says they're a part of the menu and not one of the daily specials. Ok, no big deal. Other ones sound good too and still excited for the other ones they have. Go, order, and pick up. Customer service was just fine, nothing bad or special here. Kind of meh to be honest, but it is covid times and everyone’s a bit on guard with the masks and stuff so I wouldn’t be too hard on this. But as it always happens, it comes down to the food. Pierogi's were plain bad. Super doughy to the point of not being able to even rip them apart from each other or from the plastic container they were in, kinda gross having pieces of paper stuck to the Pierogi because of the uncooked doughyness of them. And we really couldn't even taste the ingredients inside as the super uncooked doughy dough just kind of took over your entire mouth and hide the ingredients, which we had the cheese/potato, mac/cheese, blueberry/cream cheese, and cherry/cream cheese ones.
I would not recommend this place. Wanted to like it but just couldn't in the end.
edited below to reflect owners response to my review
The above is my original review, after reading the owners response, I changed my review from 2 stars to 1 star. I just don’t like liars, I’m sorry. Firstly, I was not there 3 minutes before closing as you suggested. I was there in the early afternoon, before 1pm. Secondly, if you read other reviews and owners responses, he copied and pasted the exact same response he gave to me to others. I guess he gets a lot of people coming in with the exact same order as mine, same issues as mind, and 3 minutes before closing as he wrongfully claimed to me. I would’ve given this place another shot as the owner requested, but not now after such fake responses and obvious lies. Best of luck to you Prince of Pierogi. I never wish bad business on anyone, but...
Read moreWhat an amazing find this place is! The owner delightfully greeted us when we arrived, and the weather was perfect to sit outside and enjoy the day while we waited for our food to be prepared. I’m a vegetarian and found a wonderful selection of menu items (including vegan), as well as a variety of daily specials. I settled on trying the potato and cheese pierogis with caramelized onions & sour cream and the spinach & feta special. My husband got the Hunter’s stew, which included kielbasa, beef, bacon, and sauerkraut and hearty roll. He said the tanginess of the saurkraut was a perfect balance with the richness of the meats.
The pierogis are like pillows of happiness! One bite into them and I felt like I was transported home—not to my own home, but like someone’s grandma’s house where she loves & spoils you with the recipes that have run through her family for generations. We tried the blueberry cream cheese and the Nutella banana dessert pierogis, and each one was like a warm hug from a best friend you haven’t seen in decades. This food is made with love by an owner who takes pride in bringing authentic Polish cuisine to the people of Wisconsin. I will come back to Ephraim JUST to visit this place again. 5...
Read moreLoved this place! It came up when I googled “affordable places to eat in door county.” Because honestly there are so many overly expensive restaurants with mediocre reviews and I’m not willing to pay $50 for a dinner that’s bland (cough cough, egg harbor). I have never had polish food before, but I gave them a shot! I tried the platter (which was a sampling of 4 of their foods). I liked the pierogi and cabbage rolls best! Ate those right away and I would return for more! They are located right next to Lake Michigan in a cute little area with lots of small businesses. I also liked the kielbasa sausage, even though I am not a fan of sausage usually. I took the stew home with me for leftovers. I ate it with some bread I had at home and it was Delicious. On to the staff, the owner and cashier were very friendly and helpful. The cashier brought me napkins and even free bread to go with the stew! Definitely recommend trying it with the bread! They definitely all had the door county charm :) probably about to go back for cabbage rolls and pierogi! I wish we had a polish place back home, it is great comfort food! $20 for 2 meals is an...
