The waitress who took our take out order told us the price of the red salmon with asparagus and hollandaise sauce: $12.99. We paid for the food, left, went home and looked at the receipt. The receipt showed that the salmon was $16.99. We immediately called them and told them the error. We asked to speak to the manager and she and the waitress denied that the waitress had said $12.99. We then asked to speak to the owner, but the manager said he wasn't there; we should call him tomorrow (Sunday). We called on Sunday, but the manager said that the owner wasn't available. Later that day, we stopped by and asked to speak to the owner. The manager went in, and soon came back, stating that the owner didn't want to see us and that he would call the police if we didn't leave. So, in turn, WE called the police. Shortly after, the policeman arrived. The manager greeted him and told him what had happened. Some of what she said included "These customers came in screaming and yelling* and demanded a refund*. They stopped by yesterday and bought a take out meal. They claim that they were wrongly charged..." *Two lies: 1) we did not come in screaming and yelling. We calmly asked to see the owner. 2) the manager said we demanded a refund. Wanting a refund is different than wanting the difference of the said price and charged price. We wanted the $4 back from that order. We didn't want the full meal's refund. Then the police officer threatened us by saying he would arrest us if we didn't stop trespassing. Then he told us to "shut up." The point is simple: Gus's decided they wanted to lose business from us instead of giving the $4 back. We recommend not coming to this restaurant, especially if you are a minority like us. We were bullied and judged by our race and we will NEVER come back here, no...
Read moreWent today hoping to have a nice lunch and unfortunately that didn't happen. The server Tiffany seemed as if we were a bother from the beginning starting with the dirty coffee cup she brought out then wiped in front of me then poured the coffee in the cup I didn't say a word still tried to be nice although she wasn't very pleasant my husband never got a straw for his drink and when his eggs came out the cheese was juts thrown on top and still cold so we asked if she can just remove the cheese from the check as he was able to pick it right up off the eggs her response was we don't put it in the eggs we throw it on and it melts under the warmer and I took it off to fast again we were still being nice after this then we waited for the ham he ordered and when I said excuse me to ask her she got even more of an attitude as if she was annoyed because I asked and this was well after he finished his food and it was her who didnt pay attention when he was ordering (if she was bust ok but she was not busy at all )because she never came back until she filled the sugar at the table next to us. We after all that were still going to tip her nice until he asked her for change to leave a tip and she said I don't have any and walked away not saying another word didnt ask if we wanted a box unless she figured out the homefries were so squishy and undercooked why would i wanna take them so I guess she didn't need the tip either. Although thr older lady at the front said she'd say something to her I highly doubt it based on the rest of the reviews here. Oh and 4 scrambled eggs with only white toast no homefires or anything was over $10. We...
Read moreWe visited Gus's for breakfast on a Friday morning between 9:30 - 10 and the place was packed!! This definitely must be the place where the locals eat breakfast. There is a huge parking area, and I think there is even a little overflow parking lot just next to the restaurant. It is sorely needed as spaces were few and far between. We got lucky and found a close spot as soon as we entered the parking lot.
This was our first visit - we received a gift card from a friend and decided to try it out. Gus's looks a lot bigger on the inside, and it's very clean. The interior looks like it's been updated and the lighting is good. We were seated fairly quickly and our server came right away - a very nice young lady. I ordered a meat lovers omelet, homefries & (2) pancakes. I must say the the meat lovers omelet was very, very good. The pancakes were thick and delicious, and our server checked up on us a few times to make sure we were OK. We were seated next to a kitchen door that was rarely used, and when it was closed it was virtually sound-proof. For a very large restaurant this place was pretty quiet inside. Prices here are very reasonable and the portions are good-sized.
After our meal we were checking out and I presented my gift card. Oops - the gift card is for Gus's in Mount Joy and is no good in Ephrata. No problem, as we really enjoyed our meal here. Nice staff, good food and a pleasant atmosphere. We will certainly see you again Gus - whoever...
