This was my first (and definitely last) time coming to Frida’s Tacos, and I had a horrible experience from start to finish.
I came in with the munchies, just trying to enjoy some food, but the vibe was off immediately. I asked for the strawberry agua fresca, and the lady told me they only had lime. Then when I clarified I meant the strawberry milk one, she suddenly said they did have it. Why lie? Whatever, brushed it off.
After ordering, there were no signs or direction about where to stand, and the setup was chaotic. I tried to move out of the way to avoid blocking anyone, and some customer thought I was cutting. She started mad-dogging me, so I looked back at her, confused. When I asked a worker where the line was, she responded dismissing instead of helping. Then minutes later, they ended up moving the line to exactly where I was originally standing. Total disorganization.
When I mentioned the confusion to one of the taco guys, he just brushed it off and said it’s not his job. (It was sunday and rainy) No accountability, just vibes of “not my problem.”
We sat down to eat, and while the tacos were okay, the $15 quesadilla had a HAIR in it. That was the last straw. I stood up and said, “That’s disgusting,” loud enough for everyone to hear because, at this point, I felt like I was being treated like the problem when their whole system is a mess. Staff just stood around watching the confusion instead of helping. (I was literally directing customers to separate lines.)
When I asked for a refund, the cashier gave me my money with zero apology or care.
Bottom line: disorganized, rude staff, poor hygiene, and not worth the hype or the price. I’m still shocked by how poorly this experience went. Whether it was the rain or not, or the establishment....
Read moreHONEST REVIEW* It seems like everyone I know raves about this place so I decided to give it a try myself about a week or two ago & keep in mind I am very picky when it comes to tacos, I decided to give the chicken taco a try.... and I was AMAZED by far the best chicken taco I have ever had, the chicken wasn't dry, the tortilla didn't fall apart easily, and was very flavorful & was easily the best taco I had ever tried, and that says alot because I have probably tried over 100 different tacos... fast forward 2-3 days ago I decided to come back again since it was so good and give the carne asada tacos a try this time & I also orded a Strawberry Watermelon Agua Fresca. I first tried the Carne Asada and ordered it with guacamole and silantro and everything... I'm not exaggerating these are the best tacos I have ever tried in my lifetime I will confidentially say these are the best of ALL San Diego County the Carne Asada was juicy not dry, the tortilla also was super good, the guacamole and silantro made it 100X more flavorful best carne asada taco that I have tried, The Reason i put a 4 and not a 5 was because the only complaint I had was because I tried the Strawberry Watermelon Agua Fresca was super refreshing and tasty, however my only complaint is that the Strawberries in the Agua Fresca sort of tasted a little bit expired and not very fresh, but besides that the actual Agua Fresca itself tasted super refreshing as I mentioned earlier... but besides that I will for sure be going back for more tacos and Agua Frescas 10/10! Keep doing what your doing Fridas...
Read moreWaited until we went a second time to write this but the second visit was worse than the first. First time we went was pretty hectic.. lack of seating and poorly designed ordering area makes it extremely cramped and everyone just seemed irritated. Cook messed up our order and didn't offer to fix it but the food was decent so we just ate and left. Our second visit we experienced the same hectic ordering with the cashier and customers all looking annoyed with the process. We asked for shredded cheese on one of the burritos and they said they don't make it that way but they could give us a side of cheese for $3.00. A bit over the top but we paid for it and sat down.. the cook brought us nacho cheese and when we said we asked for shredded cheese he apologized and brought it out. Out of everyone here the cook inside was probably the nicest and most helpful. The same cashier then came out to tell us since we got shredded cheese it would be an additional $7.00... she then proceeded to argue with my wife in front of customers about the type we asked for and the price. I eventually just dumped the cheese from my burrito back into the cup and left it on the counter... not paying $7.00 for a tiny cup of shredded cheese.. wild! 🤣 We'll be going back to TJ Tacos instead.. better service, nicer people (except the inside cooks who were awesome and even apologized for the female cashier) and...
