We had a blast at Grape Day park in Escondido. Before coming here, I thought it was just your average park with a slide built into a bunch of grapes. But there was a whole second playground with more swings and slides, a huge lawn to run around on, historical exhibits, and more. None of the indoor museum areas were open while we were there but the outdoor train and tractor exhibits were a hit with my son! He also loved the giant water fountain by the city building. One word of caution, we did see a few homeless people sleeping on the park grounds. Next time we find our way back to this park, we will bring our bikes to ride the path nearby.

Read moreI've had many great memories coming to Grape Day Park. Its a very significant piece of the city since I can recall ever going to it. Where one can go and relax under the great big trees that are providing shade throughout the park. To explore parts of Old Escondido and historical buildings like the train station or small business of the time. To gather and celebrate the diverse background of the city every month near the California Center for the Arts. Where we'd all gather to celebrate the Fourth of July and our hometown heros. While there wasn't always a height light to it due to the homeless population having taken over at one point, its brighten up a bit more over the years. Just went the other day to see the Christmas lights and really brightened and changed the atmosphere of visiting the park at night. So definitely stop on buy. There's alot of local eateries near by, shopping centers and a movie theatre just across the street to catch a movie. So bring the family down and see what the park has to offer...
Read moreThis place has a lot going on. There's a park for kids to play on, where one slide is a huge bundle of grapes. Whether the park was named after this slide or the slide was built after the name, I'm not sure, but it's definitely unique. There's also a huge fountain, great for taking pictures as well as the City Hall nearby. There's a lot of art all over the place and you'll see some people woodworking it working with metal in the green building by the park. You can also donate money to them. If you get tired of the park, you can always walk to regal cinemas nearby, in a plaza where there are also several food options including sushi and a Starbucks. A little farther there are a bunch of small boutique shops on Grand avenue as well as burger joints like Bench Burger. There's also a reptile store and a boba cafe! I definitely plan to come back to this area again, and next time I'll make a reservation for The Grand Tea Room, which I heard is amazing. Also, if you play Pokemon go, there are tons...
