IHOP — Restaurant in Escondido

11/12/16 we arrived at 9:30 PM and they were NOT busy at all (dead!). Waiting over 40 minutes for med –rare T-Bone steak, eggs, with a side order of hash browns. I notice two men come in sit in-front of us. They had their entrees within 20 minutes. (Sirloin steak, eggs, hash browns) Theirs came way before ours and looked delicious. I received my, what they called a T-bone steak and eggs. The so called steak was ¼ inch thin and like shoe leather. It was basically a piece of Carne Asada meat, NOT A STEAK. It was so over cooked and they forgot to bring my side order of hash browns. Oh I got those blackened on the outside and yuck in the middle eventually. Didn’t look anything like the two gentlemen sitting in-front of me!! Theirs’s looked golden brown and delicious. Needless to say I sent it all back. About 5 minutes later the waitress comes and tells me they are going to fire up another steak for me. I told her don’t bother for two reason. My company was almost finished with his breakfast and i'm not waiting another 45 minutes for it. I also didn’t want them trying to pass off a piece of Carne meat on me again nor burn't hash browns. I left so hungry. The waitress had an unpleasant attitude as well but I’m sure she has her reasons. After all she works there and probably has to deal with this kind of crap quality and complaints on a daily basis from this location. Honestly not a big fan of this place. Our waiter sat us down and took our food and drink order. After that we didn't see him again until we got our food 20 minutes later (the place was also pretty much empty). We had to ask another waitress whom I assume is the manager to get us a refill. This waitress and our waiter seemed to be doing a lot of chit chatting in the kitchen instead of actually attending us. When the food arrived the eggs, bacon, and toast were "warm which also implied that plate was probably sitting in the back for a while. Again our waiter didn't come check on us until he brought us our check because his shift was ending (which I understand). I wasn't done eating so I continued to just finish my food and was hoping to catch a waiter or waitress coming our way so I could get some water and a box for my unfinished food. Of course no one came by. Probably won't be coming here again. I don't mention names because I don't want anyone fired. Instead I think the staff should be retrained...

After waiting 20 mins to be seated , we waited another 20-25 mins until the waitress came to take our order. We placed our order and for an order of 4 of us it took 45 mins to get our food. Not once did the waitress let us know there was a delay or that she would check on our food. At one point my wife asked another waitress to bring us the bill for our drinks because we had not received our food yet. Surprisingly in less than 3 mins, our waitress showed up with our food . We noticed the other tables with different waiters and they received their food before us. Such a horrible experience after me moving from San Diego to Escondido. What I have noticed is the lack of presence of a manager. Not once did a manager walk around asking if everything was ok or supervising their employees. On top of that our waitress walking around with her cell phone in her back pocket. How do I know in between waiting on her tables she wasn’t grabbing her phone . We won’t be going back...
