Sushi Nori — Restaurant in Escondido

This business does not deserve your patronage. I recommend going elsewhere. Drove down from Valley Center for happy hour, but arrived 5:02, two minutes after happy hour conclusion. The restaurant was empty. There were two tables. I acknowledge that I was late, but asked for one happy hour round. The hostess looked up at the clock and said nope you’re too late. Happy hour is only 20% off, and I only asked for it on one roll. So I decided to leave and I told the hostess you make sure you tell the owner of this business then on a slow night like this you would rather let a customer leave versus extend a 20% discount two minutes after. Even to pay the accuracy and variance of the clock. Very short sighted business and I am certain the owner would much rather have the $60-$80 revenue I would have generated was going to generate vs zero. People we only have our wallets to vote with and when we don’t like something in an establishment or restaurant we should get up we should leave. We should not give them their money and we should encourage others...

Very disappointed… we were super stoked to try this restaurant because of the good reviews and the nice lady over the phone when we ordered. We asked for everything to be made vegan if possible and even asked for recommendation. She recommended to also try the veggie ramen bowl which we were very excited about! Once home driving all the way to vista, we sadly discovered that there were meat and egg on top of the noodles… When we called and asked if we could get a refund for just the bowl she didn’t believe us and told us to come back if we wanted a refund. I don’t understand how you could recommend a dish and can’t even make it right, on top of that is to act like we were liars… why would we make all that struggle just for 10$ ? So if you order veggie makes sure to checks your bags before going back home… The rest of the food were good though. I understand sometimes mistake can be made, but it’s a bummer her response wasn’t very friendly...

The Bomb diggity bomb bomb. They truly are a diamond in the rough. Whenever I'm in Escondido my mouth waters and I have to visit. Truly some of my best experiences at a sushi bar have taken place here, and I've been going to sushi bars for over 40 years now. The staff is friendly, welcoming and appreciative. The specials are exotic and creative. The standards are perfectly executed with a great selection of sake and beer. They don't have the local craft beer however the Japanese beers they have are what I typically seek anyways when pairing with my food and sake. This place just really works for me and I almost hate to let anybody know about Escondidos awesome little secret lest they become so popular I don't get in. But they deserve great success cuz they're doing everything right to stay there. Winner winner...
