I rarely give low ratings on any restaurants, but this will be my few that I do. So we wanted Ramen for dinner. As someone who's a big foodie and traveled to many places just to eat, like driving from San Diego to Las Vegas, I can say i was not close to satisfied. Upon entering the resturant, there was a pungent smell of poop that hit my nose hard. It smelled like the entire place had a fart machine as a freshener. I think it was due to the old mop water they may of used to mop the floors. Next was the over priced bobba drinks that was slapped together by like a 5 year old. They used canned bobba which was super hard, so it wasn't freshly made. The drink wasn't mixed well so it didn't taste right. As our food was ordered to-go, we arrived home with the food. Overall the broth was probably the best out of the entire dish. So we ordered the Spicy TonKatsu which has pork, soft boiled egg, seaweed, bamboo, scallions, corn and noodles. After heating the soup up on the stove, i mixed the separated soup into the noodles, meat, and veggies. Like I said, the broth was probably the best while everything else felt it didn't belong. Nothing flowed on the dish as the flavors felt very separated from each other. The corn was definitely canned, which is normal, but the canned bamboo strips were very strong from the soup it was canned in. You usually soak the bamboo in fresh water and let the canned solution get washed out, and then you boil it. It seemed they just threw the bamboo straight from the can to the dish. Next, the seaweed strips they put into the dish tasted stale. Seaweed is stale from not being left opened in opened air too long. Then the soft boiled egg was too salty. Soft boiled egg for Ramen is cooked soft boiled then soaked in soy sauce for a few hours to let the sauce penetrate the engine just enough. It felt like they left it soaking too long and got really salty. The pork slices were kinda ok, it was flavorful, but didn't have that flavor explosion like other Ramen shops. Last, but not least, the noodles. The noodles were definitely not in-house made as we saw the pre made packages sitting next to the cook line. So it didn't have that fresh, chewy texture. Again, I'm a foodie who has traveled to eat and traveled to Japan to eat the most authentic Ramen you can have. So this is my review. Others may disagree and like it, but...
Read moreAs I have done since they opened, I paid the delivery driver what I believed to be the entirety of the order I placed in their "delivery" site.
When the driver arrived at my place and demanded payment in the receipt, and the associated fees for delivery, I paid $55 to the driver.
I am a generous American.
I paid approximately $10 above and beyond the $46.68 bill even when the bill included $12 in fees.
Thereafter, my credit card was charged the $46.68.
I called the Tengu Ramen Escondido and they told me I was scammed by Doordash. The Asian lady there told me once I woke up the following day, I would understand I was scammed by the same entity the business offers as delivery option.
In sumz the food delivered had been wrong, but the disdain and lack of responsibility by this service-business owner is unacceptable.
I will be suing this business to remind it - it cannot prey on Americans with this shenaningans.
I will be very much awake...
Read moreLet me start with the fact that I’ve never left a bad review for anyone’s business before. But This was the absolute worst service I have ever had. DO NOT EAT HERE. The lady working today (tuesday) was sooo rude and ignored us the whole time and acted like she couldn’t understand us. She gave my husband the wrong food but couldn’t correct it unless she charged us AGAIN. What?!? So we left with the wrong food, went to El polo loco across the street and just got a couple tacos.. because at that point I wasn’t going to fight with the lady and I wasn’t going to pay $70 for 2 meals (one wrong that she misunderstood) and then our 2 correct meals. Is this a joke? She was so rude to us and we will never be back. Karma will get you though lady!! Ugliness gets you nowhere in life. Kindness always wins. AND THIS IS YOUR JOB!! You absolutely should not be working there!! Or anywhere with customer service. And in front of my small...
