What my mother and I experienced at this restaurant yesterday was disturbing. To begin with, the order that was first delivered to our table was missing a couple of items. (Not the cashiers fault. She repeated what we had ordered twice and was correct both times.) But instead of leaving the correct items on the tray and retrieving the missing items, our server took the food away entirely which allowed the food to get cold while he deliberated with the kitchen staff about the missing items. After a couple minutes he came back to our table with our food, and we noticed our fries had grown extremely cold— the onion rings were barely lukewarm and our burgers were little better. When we complained about the fries being cold, he rolled his eyes, then retrieved some fresh fries from the kitchen and served them to us with the absolute dirtiest hands I had seen in a long time. Thick dirt (or grease or paint) were crammed under his nails and he had very dingy/stained hands. It looked to me as if he had been working on a farm or his truck all morning. We felt nauseated afterwards and could not finish, let alone enjoy our meals. Sad, because my senior/veteran mother just wanted was to have a nice lunch with her daughter on Memorial Day after visiting my father at the cemetery. P.s I noticed shortly after the incident, perhaps he had overheard me talking or had caught my eyes looking at his hands, he put on a pair of black gloves while smiling to himself after having just glanced my direction. If the manager reads this, I have a few suggestions that you could pass on to your staff: if items are missing, leave the correct ones before retrieving the missing ones. Do not serve food without gloves if you have the absolute filthiest hands imaginable, don’t roll your eyes at customers, and please work on hygiene and keeping up a kempt appearance if you’re going to be handling people’s food, especially during a pandemic no less. Regarding the fries, I noticed this type of fry doesn’t hold much moisture and is thin hence why it gets cold quickly. That’s not something that’s as easily fixable and more understandable. Also, that particular server stuck out like a sore thumb. I did not catch his name, but I have an inkling any of the other staff who read this review would probably know who I was speaking of. I think he needs to be spoken to directly about these issues. I understand times are hard and all, but this was not a good thing and it’s something that can be easily addressed as well as it should be. Not just for the well-being of customers, or your business, but for himself on a...
Read moreI remember when DickieJo's first opened, I was one of those people the second day standing in the line for 45 minutes and the wait was so worth it. The place was always busy. Fast forward to today, giving we are still recovering from the hell of covid so there's a lot that's not like it use to be, with that said DickieJo's is nothing like it use to be. The service is alright, I was greeted upon entering but the focus wasn't there but I ordered two burgers for two people and was charged and received 3. The total seemed excessive and it was my mistake for not paying closer attention to my receipt which I will pay more attention to next time, if I return. Honestly I most likely would have overlooked the whole thing if the food was as it used to be, so tasty that even if you were full the aroma of the food still made your mouth water and the appearance of the food looked like a tv commercial, perfect, but sadly that is not the case now. I was the only customer and it was close to closing time but the burgers looked like they were just slapped together and tossed in the bag, if I hadn't been watching them I would have sworn that was the case but then again maybe their conversations of the tv show Friends and someone's 21st birthday was the reason for the haphazard sloppy appearance of the food I pulled out of the bag to feed my husband and daughter. Maybe it was an off kind of day but whatever the reason the quality of both service and food isn't the quality I remember DickieJo's being known for. I partially recommend just because I know what it could be but wouldn't even suggest it if today's service is the normal now. Very...
Read moreI ordered a chicken strip basket while there were maybe five other customers in the restaurant and it took 20 minutes to prepare.
I see the owner responding to a lot of reviews that they have been understaffed, which I fully understand. This was not what I observed.
Five line cooks moving at the most relaxed pace I've ever seen, talking about anything but not actually communicating about what they are doing. Five line cooks took 20 minutes to push out 5 burgers and a chicken strip basket, I saw someone work for 15 minutes on a plain plate of lettuce with dressing squirted on top. One person was just strolling back and forth, randomly dropping things in the fryers to cook longer but not actually telling anyone that's what he was doing, causing a timing issue.
I understand being understaffed, I work in food service, but this is an example of staffing only being part of a problem.
No care, no sense of urgency, no communication and no visible manager organizing the crew. These are the things that grind your business to a halt. If they had been slammed it would have been a blood bath.
Find a way to be more efficient. There are crews out there who do so much more with less and it's because they're organized and efficient and they move with a...
