We decided to come here after having a less than stellar experience at another Mexican restaurant. The service is fast here, despite the salsa being served in the small container less 25% filled. We asked for a side of beans that we were willing to pay but the person who took our order said, they don't usually serve beans on the side but they would make an acception for us. My partner was indecisive, but I asked if I could place mine and my sons order first. The server said yes. Server gave my partner more time. Which was nice but lots of time was passing by. I thought he had already placed our orders first. When he came back, my partner finally said, I'm not going to order, just my wife's and sons order. That's when he replied, ok I'll put those orders in. I was extremely disappointed and wish I would have been more stern in leaving because, I didn't want to wait longer for our food order to come in all together at the same time. My partner convinced me to just wait for the food, because they probably wouldn't take long. Well he wasn't wrong. The food didn't take long, I ordered camarones a la crema and honestly I am fcking upset at what they served me. It was literal fcking SOUR CREAM, with what appeared to be nothing of or close to a cheese/cream based sauce. It looked AND tasted like they LIGHTLY WHISKED BARELY ANY type salsa into the sour cream, so it wouldn't curdle. It looked like a thick laste of sour cream mixed in with the mushrooms and prawns. I asked the server what is it made with? Because the majority of the flavor was sour cream, not cheese cream based. She's like "idk, how ever they make it in the kitchen, but it's not sour cream," she tried to reassure me. We asked the second person who was a server, how do you make your camarones a la crema, and they too "didn't know," my children were eating their food fine, so I didn't want to be the debbie downer, I tried to eat the food. I kid you not, it felt like I ate a tub of sour cream. I couldn't even eat 25% of my food. It was gross but no one really wanted to admit what it was or really make it right, I was just assured it wasn't made with sour cream. It was more like awkward smiles and judt trying to reassure me that that it wasn't made with sour cream, despite it looking AND tasting ONLY loke it. If it were not for my toddler using my phone, so we could bulldoze through our meal in peace, without spending more time waiting, I would've taken a picture of the monstrosity I forced myself to eat. I wish I could've gotten a refund or given a different plate because it was clear as day that it was sour cream. -Which if anyone has ever at anything 'a la crema,' they'd know, that it is supposed to be a cheese sauce/cream base. Not literal sour cream. The food seems like it caters to white Americans, so maybe they're clientele is into that type of stuff, as for me, I don't want a white washed version of the food I'm eating. I've been to many Mexicans restaurants and while they are never the same and have their own style, -which I enjoy because everyone has their own sets of skills, this one took the cake and was a complete sh*t strom. As I write this, my stomach is in pain, I feel bloated and cramps. I basically paid 17$+ to eat a literal tub of sour cream. Safe to say, I do not want to come back here ever again. Be warned, to anyone who orders anything 'a la crema,' here. There gonna serve what ever meat you order smothered in what appears to be half, if not the whole tub of sour cream into your food and than tell...
Read moreAs a tourist in Oregon, I was looking for restaurants in the Eugene area. I had narrowed it down to two options: this one and a nearby Chinese restaurant. Ultimately, I chose this restaurant.
Despite the hot weather outside, I noticed that there were plenty of parking spaces available, even during what Google Maps described as the busiest time. The entrance was inviting, not overly bright or distracting.
As I stepped through the door, a pleasant cool breeze greeted me – not too cold to require a jacket, but just a comfortable temperature. The air was filled with a delicious aroma of food. There was a cushioned bench where you could wait to be seated, but the staff members were exceptional and promptly found me a nice table. The interior space was surprisingly large, offering more room than you might expect based on the exterior. The walls had beautiful paintings depicting scenic views, instantly transporting me from Eugene to Mexico. The restroom facilities were also well-maintained and of high quality.
Once seated, the staff promptly handed me a menu, which featured a wide variety of authentic dishes accompanied by helpful images. Along with the menu, I was served a fancy glass of ice-cold water and a generous portion of delicious tortilla chips, accompanied by two flavorful bowls of salsa. The salsa had a bit of a spicy kick to it, which only enhanced the overall flavor. The staff later took my order with efficiency and professionalism, ensuring that my food was served as quickly as possible.
I ordered the chicken fajitas and chose jamaica (hibiscus) as my drink. The fajitas arrived with a plate of beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, pico de Gallo, and other delicious sides. The jamaica drink was refreshingly flavorful, surpassing the taste of the ones I usually brew at home. The food itself was excellent, and I believe this restaurant to be one of the best hidden gems for authentic cuisine. They even have a kids' menu, creating a family-friendly atmosphere, and the staff are proficient in both Spanish and English. The presentation of the dishes was top-notch, with the food sizzling straight from the kitchen.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. It offers a great vibe with background music, friendly and bilingual staff, and outstanding food. Overall, I give this restaurant my highest...
Read moreWent in on a Saturday night at 6:45 with a party of four, two couples. We were greeted with very much enthusiasm! So much so that each couple thought the other must have known the owners. The place had obviously just been super busy, so there was a lot of seating throughout the place. We went over to the large open room where they have plenty of tables and seating, also a small bar, (we never saw anyone sitting or waiting at the bar) We were able to get a table with one side in a booth and the other one chairs. That was great as an oxygen tank accompanies me and takes up room. The chairs allowed it to tuck in and hide away. Right away we had chips and 2 salsa's, and large waters. The staff was so happy and friendly! They gave us room and time to talk about and look through the menu. The owner himself came by and stopped to ask how we were doing and just chatted. At this time he spoke with my husband about the different seafood options. The dish that was chosen was amazing and huge! His bacon wrapped huge shrimp were beautifully displayed on one big plate. Another huge plate came with Everything you could want in a taco/burrito. Then those beautiful flour tortillas in their warming dish. We all thought that the shrimp alone was the whole dish. When everything else came out too, we were so surprised! The rest of us are more pedestrian 2 #5 enchiladas plate chicken/shredded beef. I had mine in green sauce. A bigger combo plate..yada yada.. we were really impressed by the amount of food we received. Then in the middle of eating the owner comes back over with an enormous Mexican pizza and puts it in the middle of the table.. He says he wants us to have it, on the house! Wow! To say that we were all impressed isn't big enough.. When all was said and done we left with 4 to go boxes! It was only then that we found out that neither couple knew the owners, or even the wait staff very well. They were just welcoming and kind because that's how they are! Definitely a great place to eat!
I will also add that we were well served by each wait staff that we had any contact with, and we are a little needy. They really looked...
