Sam's Place Tavern — Restaurant in Eugene

We arrived 6:30 last night. A Sunday. I had reserved a table. I brought my sister and husband visiting from out of state.By 8pm we did not receive our order which had been taken at 6:45pm. So we left. We are regilar customers.This is the first time we had a negative experience. But it was frustrating. The only explanation was that there were big orders. It seemed there were one or two cooks who were unable to keep up. The wait staff checked back 3 times asking if we wanted more drinks. But never offered even some potato chips? They kept saying they didn't know why it was taking so long and there's nothing they could do. They did compensate for our drinks when we left. I've been to Sam's numerous times for the past five years. Always had exemplary food and service. Today however I ordered their dinner entree of chicken breast with two sides for 15.99. The chicken was patties you would buy in a frozen food bag from WinCo. They were sickly pale without seasoning. My two sides were mashed potatoes and $3 upcharge of seasoned vegetables. My dinner partner ordered the prime rib with the same sides and received twice the amt of seasoned vegetables. This was a very disappointing meal considering the wonderful quality we've come to expect at Sam's. I would never order this again but maybe this menu option should be removed or revamped until it's up to par with your other meals. The service as always was...

Sorry but to be honest the Philly cheese steak wasn’t as good as I had hoped. I was really hungry and thought anything should be edible at the time. The steak was in small chunks and kinda tough. It was tri tip. I expected it to be tender. Also over seasoned, for my taste buds. The potato salad, as a side, was kinda basic bland and okay. I just went for food. Not video lottery, not alcohol, nothing else. The customer service was nice. Totally pleasant and took great care of me. Water stayed filled, that’s the only drink I ordered. But staff was great.
