Oh my! I am not a picky person and love being a friendly, lowkey, and reverent customer, but this place just lost me for life.
I go to the gym next door and have loved supporting a local shop by stopping by a couple of times a week for coffee, food, or both. Stopped in today, and the barista that helped me had an egregiously awful attitude! Like totally above and beyond awful. I was literally shook to the core.
Here is exactly what happened:
Barista: "Can I help you" Me: "Yes, can I get a gluten-free bagel sandwich?" Barista: in an annoyed voice and very very fast, "what bagel sandwich"?
Now that is a fair question as I was kind of spacey as I had not eaten.
Me: "What types of bagels"? Barista: "Plain, Everything". Barista: "Everything bagel and veggie sandwich".
She rolled her eyes and turned around get to work. After coming back from putting the bagel in, she came back over...
Barista: To drink? Me: Nothing
Ok this is where it goes really sideways. She gives me the most awful scowl I have gotten in a very long time and let's out a huffing noise as she turns away. When she came back to the window...
Me: in a lowkey coice "is there a problem with how I ordered?" Barista: " No it's just... no it's nothing." with another eye roll. Me: "Ok well it definitely was not nothing and it still seems that way". Batista: " No that's just my face." as she snickers
At this point I drive away without the bagel I paid for as I did not want it any longer.
Metro Bru Owners, it is hard enough running a local coffee shop and competing with big box coffee even with quality team members that treat clients decently. I recommend you keep a closer eye on your team's customer service because losing any client at all is detrimental when competition is so fierce. Even though they don't have a drive-through, I will be taking my business to Coffee Plant Roasters... very good coffee and...
Read moreI had high hopes as this drive through came recommended by a friend. I ordered a 12oz oatmilk latte. When the barista handed my order to me I thought it felt a little light but I didn't dwell on it. After leaving I opened up the lid to find a drink that was not even close to full (see photo). I was a little disappointed but thought, hey, things happen, no big deal. Then, I took a drink. Awful, awful. How can a drink taste bitter, sour and burnt all at the same time? I drink a lot of coffee, and this was hands down the worst oatmilk latte I've ever had.
Response to Owner: I would be happy to give it another go, let me know how I go about that. The date I went was Saturday, October 16, sometime before 10:00 am. The barista was a young blond girl wearing a brown argyle crop top short sleeved sweater and high...
Read moreI moved to Eugene in 2022 and MetroBru quickly became my favorite coffee kiosk/shop in town. The drinks are always great - consistent with good flavor and careful preparation (I cannot tell you how many times I have been handed a leaking/drippy drink at Starbucks or Dutch Bros over the years, but this never happens at MetroBru). The staff is always super friendly - special shout out to Katy, Angie, and Mia. My personal favorite drink is the blended mocha which has some great espresso/coffee flavor, is never sickeningly sweet as some blended beverages tend to be, and is always perfectly blended without being too thick or icy. They also have a rotating "specials" menu for various seasons/holidays which are lovely and unique. I only wish they had more than 1 location in the area. Keep up...
