The Rabbit Hole is our new favorite place! My kiddo and I look for bubble tea and a great atmosphere to spend time in about once a week. Finding The Rabbit Hole today has been a highlight of these explorations.
The great stuff: A genuinely warm welcome when we entered. A relaxed, funky, “take your time” vibe. The extensive menu, all of it customizable. The staff suggestions. The board game shelf. The soft, perfectly sized boba pearls. The passionfruit purée.
My kiddo had a matcha mango milk tea with boba. Creamy deliciousness. They’d had a hard time deciding between flavors, and “why not both” was a great idea!
I was trying to find something with less sugar. I saw the plum clear tea, and a staff member suggested adding passionfruit purée instead of sugar. Wow! The passionfruit purée has crunchy little seeds, which contrast with the soft boba. This whole concoction was delightful. I want to order this every time.... except that now I’m wondering what other fabulous things are hiding on their menu.

Read moreThe Rabbit Hole is a wonderful local shop that specializes in a wide variety of tea drinks. The bubble tea is the closest thing you can find in Eugene to authentic Taiwanese-style milk tea. The tapioca pearls are almost always cooked perfectly, while other stores in town often have tough, half-cooked or gooey, overcooked pearls. You can also customize the level of ice and sugar with your order.
The atmosphere is casual and student-friendly, and is a great place to meet up to work on a group project or just hang. It's a fairly popular spot among students so it's usually pretty bustling.
Check out their seasonal specials and don't be afraid to try new combinations of flavors and toppings (pearls, jellies, beans, and more). The Original flavor with pearls is always a solid choice, and my other favorites are taro and their passionfruit green tea. You can try something new each time...
Read moreBy far the best bubble tea in town and great hours (open late). They've experimented with different food items over the years, and most of their food has not been worth it. Not the coziest place, but is generally quiet.
On my last visit, their internet repeatedly went down, and they made my drink while they waited for their payment system to reboot. My drink sat for 20 minutes, during which all the ice melted, before the system rebooted. Abysmal customer service. They handled this very poorly. I left without paying and without a drink and with 20 minutes of my time wasted. They should definitely train (or hire) better. This is not the first time they've had similar problems during my visit, and I go ~1/month, so this must be a somewhat frequent occurrence. Needless to say, I will likely not be going...
