Not the prettiest place to bring guests, but the food and drinks are worth it. They brought out some complimentary raw veggies and dip as soon as we sat down. Upon ordering, they brought out even more banchan - cold tofu, pickled radish, spinach namul, and kimchi, and all were delicious. My husband and I ordered a cocktail each and shared a full order of chicken wings, and with the complimentary sides, we were stuffed. So although prices seem kind of high, you really get a lot and it ends up being about the same as any brewery around here - better, even. The cocktails all are super fun, and though I generally don’t like alcohol, I really want to come back and keep trying all of them here.
And don’t get me started on the wings! They were huge and flavorful and crispy, and so, so juicy. You get to pick 2 flavors with a full order of 10 wings. My husband particularly liked the honey soy garlic one (which came with a little skewer of roasted garlic cloves), while I loved the dry rub (which came with a tasty dipping sauce).
After hearing some lukewarm reviews, I wasn’t expecting much, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. Highly recommend, at least so far for the wings and drinks!
Update: the yangnyeom wings and the original salt and pepper are the best wing flavors, hands down. The tteokbokki had glass noodles and fish cake in it and was also sooo yummy and comforting with the wings and...
Read moreI recently visited Tiger Mama, an incredible Korean-style pub, and was blown away by the experience! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant atmosphere and music instantly transported me to the heart of K-town.
The food & drinks were amazing. The Korean Fried Chicken, crispy and bursting with soy garlic flavor, was some of the best I've had, served with Korean pickled radish. Be sure to try the fried chicken with soju and beer (소맥). The 회덥밥 was fresh, with a mix of ingredients in a Korean chili paste vinaigrette (초장), perfectly balanced, and utterly satisfying. But the real star of the evening was the pork belly Ssam – it was charred yet tender, flavorful, and wrapped up in a perfect bite with pickled cucumber and carrot. It was a masterful and well-executed display of traditional Korean cuisine with a modern twist.
The starter 안주 (cucumber and carrot with Korean sauces) selection beautifully complemented the meal, enhancing the overall dining experience.
The service was impeccable, adding to the already fantastic atmosphere. It's rare to find a place that combines great food, a wonderful atmosphere, and excellent service, but Tiger Mama does just that. This gem in Eugene is perfect for anyone looking to experience an authentic Korean night with a modern flair. I can't recommend it enough – Tiger Mama is...
Read moreThis is easily my favorite restaurant in Eugene. The owners and staff are always super sweet and accommodating even when it's frequently very busy. Many of the dishes remind me of my mom's genuine Korean food that she would make for us when I was growing up.. that is aside from the Korean fried chicken. If my mom could have cooked anything close to that amazing I would never have moved out of her house. Holy hell, if you're a fan of chicken wings and have not tried Korean fried chicken then prepare to change your preferences for life! Somehow they get the exterior sauced up breading to be crunchy and flavor packed while the inside stays juicy and tender in a way that toxic or wing street could only dream of trying to replicate. The honey soy garlic and sweet and spicy yangnyum wings are absolutely ridiculous. It shouldn't even be possible how good they are. My girlfriend and I seek out Korean fried chicken restaurants when we travel to larger cities, and through some stroke of luck these wonderful people decided to open a restaurant that ranks toward the top of what we experienced in the Portland/Seattle/Orange county areas. Also we're working our way through the rest of the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. Get the...
