Brought my truck into Leon’s for a little maintenance, so I decided to walk over for some lunch while I waited. I couldn’t decide between a taco or a burrito, but then I noticed they had lengua, so I decided to get both. I got a regular carne asada burrito and a lengua taco, figured I’d start with the taco, that way I could save half of the burrito for my girlfriend to try.
The taco wasn’t that special, I thought that was their specialty since it’s built into the name, but it was mediocre. They don’t add oil when warming up the tortillas like my regular place does, so the tortillas were just kinda steamed instead of a little crispy. The meat was tender and juicy, but it lacked flavor, I definitely had to add salt, plus it was buried under a ton of cilantro and onions, I ended up picking half of it off.
The burrito was pretty solid, it was a good size for the price. The carne asada was really good, super tender and full of flavor, rice and beans were good too, and the overall ratio of rice, beans, and meat wasn’t bad. I’ve had places that load their burritos with rice and beans and just sprinkle a little bit of meat on there, this was not the case.
I think I would come back for the burritos, but I I’ll pass on the tacos. I would definitely recommend the hot salsa, I asked the lady for the hottest salsa they had, she gave me this habanero salsa that literally had me sweating, it was no joke. Super delicious, but packs a serious punch, don’t say I...
Read moreI was not disappointed the food was very tasty and the service was good. I ordered tocos de lengua (tounge) which is my absolute favorite. They already get points for having it as an option because some places don't have it as a meat choice. The meat was moist, fresh, and well cooked. I also ordered chiles releno without beans or rice and it was just ok. It was kind or one note for me. I did try putting the sauce on a taco and the combination was devine. The bit of spiciness from the salsa on the taco and the flavors of the sauce paired well. My food came to $16.00 without a beverage which wasn't horrible but not the best value either. Overall I was pleased and I would eat...
