For starters this is the only negative review I have in over 30 years ever posted. After a bad experience I’ve never felt like wasting my time writing a bad review is worth my effort, until now.
I am completely perplexed as to how this place has 4.8 stars on google reviews. I can only imagine that they must have run some sort of leave us a 5 star review and get a free meal special in order to get any rating above 1 star.
If you like giant spiders on high chairs, terrible service, pre packaged frozen food, and nacho cheese from a can this is the place you’ve been waiting for.
I always try to offer the benefit of the doubt to wait staff when things happen like- the occasional bug, no refills, brining a kids drink without a lid, or having to seat ourselves. That being said, it is nothing short of a miracle that the wait staff proved they were able to walk and breathe at the same time.
We entered the 80 degree dining room and waited at least 5 minutes by the sign that said “please wait to be seated”. We then sat down at a table and another 10 minutes passed before we were ever acknowledged. There were 2 other people in the restaurant, and after hearing them ask the waitress for “more water, more soda, and sour cream” we should have known the service would be terrible, but we stayed.
We ordered the brisket nacho appetizer, which they were out of, until the waitress returned and said “they actually just got back with it”, we made the mistake to try it.
It turned out to be 6 oz of canned nacho cheese topped with brisket.
What felt like an eternity later the waitress came to take our order.
It was as follows: Turkey sandwich with cheese, BBQ, and fries. Brisket grilled cheese with fries Kids chicken fingers with fries Smoked bologna sandwhich with onion rings- which turned out to be just the onion rings because the bologna wasn’t done smoking yet. Fried shrimp and fries
We received our (incorrect and incomplete) meals in 3 parts: A turkey sandwhich- Just sliced turkey and 2 pieces of bread, no cheese, no fries (they were “still cooking”- I still wonder who’s idea it was to fry 1 meals worth of fries at a time when the table orders 3 meals worth?) A brisket SANDWHICH with fries
The onion rings and kids chicken fingers came out about 5-10 minutes later. In the words of my 3 year old the chicken fingers were “hard as a rock”. When my husband asked about his shrimp and was told they were still working on it, he just asked for it to be boxed up to go.
The brisket was good, the onion rings, fries, and shrimp all could have been bought in the frozen food section at Walmart. Oh and don’t forget about the canned nacho cheese.
Not that it would have helped, but not a single apology was offered by wait staff for anything.
We were unable to view our ticket before we paid, which I’m sure was incorrect.
I’m convinced the reason they’re closed on Monday and Tuesday is so anyone who ate there the days before has enough time to forget how awful of an experience it was and go back to try it again. Fortunately for us we won’t be forgetting and this will be our one...
Read moreService was A+ even for take out. Wonderful bubbly blonde haired women greeted me at the door ready to provide me a 5 star service. I wish more establishments had staff like Her around here. The atmosphere was amazing as well. Focused on being very child friendly. Big fan. The only reason why I’m giving two stars is because they had no brisket at all still fairly early in the day. Brisket is the cornerstone of any good barbecue place period. Second, I was up sold the idea that I was going to have fried collard greens. I’ve never heard of this before done anywhere ever so even though they didn’t have the brisket and I was really counting on that and was going to just leave because they didn’t have any the wonderful woman that was servicing me did up sell these deep-fried collard greens. And maybe it was my fault for not asking what they look like or how they come, but when I receive my to go box and got in the truck An opened up to my surprise and very small container with four even smaller mini empanadas, the tasted more like spinach and collard greens. We have these back home. They’re called spinach empanadas there was a tone of flavor that might’ve hinted something else, but for the price that I paid for the product that was given not even close to feeling of any value here And again there was nothing really deep-fried about it, except for the pastry you wrapped your “collards” in. Last, but not least there was sauce inside the box. I thought it was something that was going to maybe amplify the flavor……. It was cocktail sauce, which they were also out of shrimp if that was meant to come with my box not a good pairing. Other than that, the atmosphere was amazing. The service was well well more than I would expect from this establishment and if the brisket was there, I’m sure it would’ve tasted amazing but lack of planning. plan to fail. I have to come back this way again in a few weeks. I am going to come back and try again, but for a first impression,...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious food and great service! We ordered: Deep fried collard greens (deliciously tender and well seasoned greens fried in a crispy wrapper)pork free Macaroni and cheese ( very well seasoned! Full of real cheeses!) Brisket macaroni and cheese ( tender flavorful chopped brisket over chef Cassy’s signature macaroni and cheese.) Fried fish with hush puppies ( the fish is delicious… but those hush puppies…. Amazing!) Green beans( now this is an experience in itself… you will be a green beans snob after tasting these. I am spoiled now!) Chicken tortellini ( Nothing bland here!! And lots of sauce! Move over Olive Garden!) And banana pudding ( Not a box in sight! This is some tasty banana pudding! Nothing soggy.. no brown bananas!) A coke and 2 sweet teas
For 2 people this was more than enough food and a very satisfying meal! ($62) The flavors were amazing! This is definitely our go to restaurant for now on! We loved every bite!
If you are just trying to get a good taste for this place I’d suggest: Starter: fried collard greens Sides: green beans & brisket macaroni ( you know it’s all about the sides! You won’t be disappointed!
