This week is our 22 anniversary and my wife had been telling me she wanted to take me here for some time. She had been here once and said she had great service and margaritas. It was a Tuesday and she called to see if there was a special on tacos. The young lady who answered told her that on Tuesday tacos were a $1.99. Once we got there and ordered we were informed that it was only the shredded chicken and ground beef that were specials for Tuesday. We ordered some, a little disappointed cause those weren't the ones we wanted but no problem. The margaritas would make it better. The waiter then proceeded to tell us that those tacos were no good. They had no flavor and he wouldn't recommend them. So based on his looking out for us we order something else. We ordered the drinks and waited. They came out quick enough but the house margarita was very watery, I'm not one for complaining about every little thing so I just drank it. When the food came out they had given us steak instead of chicken but when we mentioned it to him he insisted that we received what we ordered. No prob, it's only 3 bucks extra. The food was good but it didn't come with anything! Perhaps it was extra but it was not explained to us that beans and rice, a typical Mexican restaurant staple was either not it included or an upcharge. Again, we went with it. My wife then ordered me another drink, one she had wanted me to try. When it came it was different than what she remembered. She mentioned it to the waiter and he said that they run out of glasses and that's what she remembered, it was the same. This whole time, we never got our waters, or chips and every time we ordered something, the waiter talked us out of it! I had originally wanted the vampiro but he said no! He insisted on the house margarita. At one point he even sayed he wouldn't bring me the 2nd drink till I finished the one I had! When the bill came my wife found that she indeed didn't get the drink she had ordered me. It was a completely different name. When she told the waiter he again said we were wrong and didn't remember what we had before. It's a shame because we really wanted this to be our local Mexican restaurant. Consistency is so important for a restaurant. When you like something you want to go back and have that same experience again and again. Although everyone was nice, they just didn't get anything right. It was a frustrating experience. I guess we'll continue to go to Apopka for our Mexican food fix. Que pena porque...
Read moreI live very close by. First time there since new owners. The place looks beautiful. The food was mostly good, But sometime I wish that all Mexican Rest. didn't look like they all plated their food the same, rice and beans seem to all look the same no matter where you go. Perhaps all have the same supplier. We had one take out to go home, the other meal consumed at the bar. The salsa for home turned out to be ketchup. I thought the music was a little loud, maybe if there had been more people there, it would not have seemed so loud, it was still pre-dinner hour. Staff was efficient, although when sitting at the bar (same as previous) that instead of staff talking to just each other, a little more effort would be talking to the patrons instead of staff talking only to staff. I like to have a local place, where I feel welcomed and you get to know the bartenders and waitresses. I also would have loved to set outside at the bar (since I was a little ragged looking from being out in the woods jeepin attire, lol) but nobody was out there, I realize I could have asked to be seated out there, but once I got all the way inside....oh well, Always confused about the entrance, I know lot of people use the back door, since that is where most of the parking is, but I always feel like I am coming in the kitchen entrance, lol. The front entrance is of course probably the proper entrance, but I think something on the back door says, enter, or welcome or use front door please would be a suggestion. I will give it another try, because it is so close by and I love Mexican Food. I hope this review is taken for what it is, honest opinion about how I felt...
Read moreWords cannot properly express how much I love this place, but I'll try my best at describing my experience. Customer service is absolutely outstanding, food is out of this world delicious, and the entire restaurant is extremely clean. By far, one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I came here today after seeing La Perla Tapatía mentioned in a group as a suggestion on a good place to eat. Our waitress, Cecelia, was so sweet! She started us off with some chips, salsa and cheese dip, answered all of the questions I had about menu items, gave me suggestions on what to try, and checked on us to make sure everything was good. Best customer service I've ever experienced. When we got our food, it was colorful and looked appetizing. Flavors were phenomenal! There were beautiful char marks on the shrimp that was inside of the burrito El mamalon, and all of the different ingredients married well together. The enchiladas verdes are absolutely addictive. So much flavor, and I think I could drink that green tomatillo sauce on its own. It's that good. We ended up ordering more food to take home as well! The restaurant was spotless clean, smelled great, and had really awesome decor! There is a booth in the left corner when you walk in that's kind of secluded, that's where we sat. There's a star light that hangs there and it is so beautiful! I love all of the bright colors inside of the restaurant, and even some brightly colored chairs out front! I really can't wait to tell everyone about this place. I highly recommend coming here if you like great food, customer service,...
