Wanted to try this place after passing by a few times. Unfortunately, our first visit will be our last. We were not welcomed when we walked in. Nobody offered to help us, even though there was only one other customer. The employees seem clueless and timid- I asked a question about a bread on display and the employee replied with a blank stare, "It looks like it. I don't know." When we went to pay, the same employee had no idea what anything cost, and then didn't know how to use the cash register. They had to do it all over again at another register. It seems like no one there has been trained in any type of customer service. As we were leaving, an older woman came out and thanked us- she must be one of the owners. I don't understand why, if these are newer employees, they aren't being supervised and supported better. As for the quality of their products, I am sorry to say that we were very disappointed. The challah is absolutely inedible. Tastes like store-bought hot dog buns. What's more, it was stale. Supposedly, they only make challah on Fridays, and it was purchased on a Friday, so not sure what happened there. But it was horrible, to say the least. The Polish rye is decent. I'm Polish and I think it passes. My husband also said his cookie was good. However, the rolls and pretzel we bought were just like the challah- too soft, with a commercial hot dog bun taste and texture. Very anemic, bland and bad. Button also has pizza (bizarrely), but I don't think we will bother trying that. There are other superior bakeries in Evanston like Hewn and Bennison's. We will continue going to...

So when I read that a new bakery is coming on Main Street I sighed - what can they do different?
And man I was proven wrong!
The Sourdough was excellent, and the pastry was delicious, fresh and well made
It is absolutely an amazing place I plan to visit again soon
Bottom line - this is a great bakery with its own unique breads and pastry.
I guess now a gym is a mandatory place before any...
Read moreI live across the street and have been checking daily to see if they were open…worth the wait. Tried the slice of focaccia, the cinnamon roll, and the baguette. The cinnamon roll and focaccia were delicious…but having lived in Paris for one year, I can tell you the Button Baguette is par excellence😳 Perfect blend of great chew, outer crunch, and flavor that made me want to pick up the fixins for a jambon et fromage. Embarrassed to admit it, but that baguette became my breakfast, lunch, & dinner after my first visit to Button Bakery. Gone in one...
