I was there on last Saturday. The medium coffee was good... maybe it was a large. I think you only have two sizes. They warmed up my croissant for me. I'd spent $14 on newspaper so far that day, 6 for the NYT, and 4 each for the Washington post and the Chicago Tribune. So I met this guy and he told me a story about airplanes that I really appreciated.
I have been working at the airport for 5 years and I am only just beginning to appreciate aviation philately. On a recent trip to Chicago I met an aviator in a coffee shop that told me about 3 flights that meant a lot to him. He and his Dad were pilots and they flew a 4-seat Beechcraft Bonanza from California to Lima. On the way they stopped at airports where they were serviced with gas out of barrels. When they landed in Lima they boarded a Super Constellation for a flight to Cuzco. It is good to fly in a plane that flies at a high altitude, to get over the mountains, to get to Cuzco. Their little Bonanza cruises a long at just 3,000 feet. Aboard the Super Constellation there was no door separating the cockpit from the passengers so they sat up front just behind the pilots and chatted the whole way. The Captain asked if he could have my guys' charts. He had his own charts but he knew a younger pilot that did not have any. Then they started their descent into the wrong valley! Weeks later that same aircraft on that same route crashed with 49 people on board. That's a sad story!!! Not the kind aviators like to tell. The third flight this guy told me about occurred aboard a navy ship where he was serving... he really really wanted to ride in a plane that was catapulted from the ship, so he arranged to be a passenger on a Grumman S-1 Tracer that scanned the ocean for submarines. He sat in the very back for take off and felt the dip when the aircraft reached the end of the deck. It we every bit as thrilling as he thought it would be.
You know this guy? Tell him I said hello and that I appreciated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreiāve been coming here for a few years and this morning itās just a little weird thereās a line thereās like five people. Thereās one girl whoās working I think she kinda knows what sheās doing. She was really sweet, but thereās three people in the kitchen and I donāt know what happened to any of the other workers or I donāt know who the managers are there was that one guy who was managing this place? I donāt know what happened to him plus the coffee is like OK but they also switched their coffee cups to like a really bad quality cup and itās ugly for one and two it drips everywhere like today. It was dripping all over me like the lid just attracts all the drip coffee and it drips down the side and it was all over me and no matter what I did it just didnāt stop so now like the cup quality and the lids just also bad.
also, what happened to the smoothie menu like they used to have like the big menu on the side of the wall and now they changed it just a smoothie 995 I guess maybe theyāre trying to get rid of smoothies which is fine because itās a coffee shop, but I really enjoyed the smoothies and they donāt actually tell you whatās in any of the specialty drinks if there is even a menu for it anymore I donāt know whatās happening to this place . they changed where the food was to like a different part of the area and they added cream for the coffee but not any other milks or anything this morning. I clearly asked for coffee with milk and was served a black coffee which OK that happens Iām just saying like thereās little attention to detail. Itās being miss lately and Iām not the only one on here saying somethingās been happening like this is one of the best coffee shops in town so keep up the quality donāt let...
