The GEM Museum Suites exceptional boutique hotel experience far exceeded my expectations. The minute you walk into their palatial lobby, the staff immediately greeted me and offered to help me to my room. The level of customer service is exceptional in every way. Grace in Management deserves kudos for training staff equally across the board for their consistency in customer service and their kindness to all residents. The rooms are well appointed, very comfortable and offers everything available to meet your needs from quality bedding, mattress, full kitchenette, washer/dryer and great cleaning services. Maria, cleaned my room perfectly, on a regular basis, and she made sure I had all that I needed throughout my stay. The complementary breakfast is so delicious. Chef Pete prepares each meal with care and perfection. The Greek yogurt, topped with fresh fruit, granola and high-quality honey is so delicious. Chef Pete’s homemade spinach pie is definitely worth eating, too. All the servers greeted me like a bowl of sunshine. Many thanks to Carmen, Sarah, Carlos, and Lulu who were quite attentive to ensuring I had a pleasant experience. Many thanks to the hotel management, Grace, and all the staff especially Aaron, Ezgi and Sophia. Everyone made my stay at The GEM so very pleasant over the last two months. I highly recommend staying at the GEM. Everything is within walking distance, including restaurants, clubs, SPACE music venue and shopping. Best of all, Lake, Michigan is close by for walks on the lake and playing in the sand. The neighborhood is safe and quite beautiful with many tree, line streets and an active, engaged community. Read moreIf you need a bit of space, this is a better option than most air b&b’s or hotels in the area. The common areas are beautiful, the attached fenced garden is massive, and the rooms are exceedingly comfortable. The garden is absolutely perfect for those traveling with a dog. The bed is by far the most comfortable bed I’ve slept on in a hotel in Evanston. Each room has a small kitchen and laundry. Hardwood floors, updated bathrooms, and all white linens make the space feel fresh and clean. The staff were extremely friendly, and parking is free. The decor in the hallways and rooms are a bit odd (the pictures and curtains specifically) but knowing the history of the space it makes sense. That said I would take those curtains down! The room was warm when we arrived but we were able to cool it down pretty quickly. We left before breakfast but the dining space was beautiful. There only seemed to be a handful of guests on a random Sunday in March. It’s more expensive than either Hilton in Evanston but it’s much nicer with many more free amenities. Hopefully more people will discover this hotel and it will continue to be an option moving forward...
Read moreWe truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely boutique hotel, full of unique art and artifacts. The staff could not have been nicer. The room was clean and well-equipped. And the location was walkable and convenient to restaurants and stores. The best part is that the breakfasts included with our stay were absolutely delicious! We were expecting the typical continental breakfast with stale pastries and burnt coffee. Instead they included delicious Greek scrambles, pancakes, croissants and marble breads. The chef told us he once owned multiple restaurants in Chicago and only uses the freshest ingredients. I would stay at the hotel just to enjoy his cooking alone! If I had one complaint, it's that the fold out mattress my son stayed on was pretty thin. To make it more comfortable I had to ask for multiple blankets and layer them on top of one another. A good mattress pad would solve the problem. But overall, we would definitely stay here again! It was the highlight...
