UPDATE - 7/03 2023 I've given this location SO many chances over the last four years, but this last visit was the final straw. The whole point of the mobile app is your order gets priority. The sign facing the highway still reads "order online, skip the line."
We pulled into the stall closest to the door at 5:40pm on a Monday and ordered three drinks. It took 25 minutes for them to come out to the car. In the same time eight orders, including orders with just two drinks, were delivered to other cars by the one person we saw running to cars.
Poor management to the point of the location being run with less-than-skeleton crews has been a chronic issue with this location since before the pandemic. I'm frankly shocked Sonic corporate has not taken issue with the fact the Sonic brand is losing goodwill in this area over the fact there are days it would be better for Sonic's image if this location simply didn't open.
The only reason we got our drinks when we did is because we hit the Big Red Button and asked for them. The sole runner had marked our drinks as prepared and the stall screen had shown "[runner name] is bringing your order" in what I presume was a move to stop the system from counting up longer wait times on orders that were technically prepared, but not taken out to cars yet. That was somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes into the 25 of the total wait.
Sonic used to be a place we'd stop at to pick up actually good beverages when getting takeout from other places, or occasionally have a full quick meal at. Now it has been proven time and time again the place will always be understaffed and the staff who are working will be so overworked they're not thinking through basic staging orders, like getting an order that's just beverages out the door while waiting for an order with food that's technically "first" to finish prepping.
I don't blame the workers an ounce. They're set up for failure from the jump, but the fact remains those workers are being run ragged and have been for years. This location needs to either shut down permanently so another business can take over the shell of the building, or the managerial staff needs to be purged and start...
Read moreI used the app to order online. I placed my order (2 items-a burger and drink) while sitting in the stall and submitted it at 6:09 PM. I immediately checked in for pick up and waited. At 6:23 PM I finally got a message on the screen that my order was on the way-the order never came. I waited and waited some more. They were moderately busy so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept waiting. By 6:45 PM I decided to call the restaurant to get assistance for an order I already paid for, was told it was coming, and never received. After attempting to call 4 times and pressing the stall button and waiting close to 10 more minutes I finally got to talk to someone. My order was FINALLY brought to me at almost 50 minutes past when I originally placed my order I got service. They didn't seem apologetic and overall was rude. My food was cold and my drink was watered down. I decided to call the corporate number and was helped in a MUCH faster manner and treated nicely by the representative. They offered a drink and burger but that was it. I literally wasted well over an hour dealing with this Sonic. I will never go back to this location. I have pretty decent experiences at every other Evansville location-I don't know why the Sonic on Covert struggles to offer the same good service as the other locations. Read moreI placed my order online at 9:26, and I got my food delivered at 9:51 - 25 minutes. At around 9:35, I got the notification that my order was ready. I patiently waited. They were busy- I get it. I work the food industry too, and it was also close to closing time. I wasn’t mad about the wait until I clicked the red button to double check that my order wasn’t forgotten about and the lady over the speaker was incredibly rude. I kindly asked if someone would be bringing out my order soon due to it being ready over 20 minutes prior, and the lady told me “we only have one person running food so you’re going to have to wait.” I continued to explain that it was fine, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t forgotten about, but she quickly hung up on me. Rude- poor customer service. Then I waited another 10-15 minutes when I saw the car beside me, who pulled up 10 minutes after me, was getting their food and I was still waiting. FINALLY, Tyra came up to me and apologized. She offered me anything I wanted for the inconvenience. I didn’t need anything else, but I would give her 5 stars for the awesome comeback from the whole situation. However, I give sonic as a whole 2 stars.
