I really wish I could give a more positive review. The restaurant has so much potential, but the service, coming all the way from the top, drags it down. The view is beautiful and the kitchen staff is both competent and very sweet.
I went to the restaurant multiple times during my stay. The first night, I only stopped by to look at a menu and decided not to eat. During my exchange, the waiter shared with me the breakfast hours which differed with hours posted at the front desk (I had not asked). He proceeded to argue at length. I set an alarm accordingly. He turned out to be wrong...more later. He also told me that only regular coffee (not espresso drinks) and orange juice were part of the breakfast coupon...also wrong.
In the morning, I had a lovely breakfast...great food and wonderful service. However, I decided to talk to the manager about the way the waiter had argued with me the night before and he didn’t care. He didn’t seem to think this was a problem at all that he stressed me and forced me to come down earlier than I had wanted.
I then order takeout that night rather than need to head out because I was exhausted and cold. I ordered chowder and immediately went down to pick it up and headed to my room. The soup was cold. I told them it was cold and they offered to credit the order. They did not offer to bring me a new soup. I brought the soup down to them, because I wanted them to experience just how cold it was. They were unphased and made excuses about the door being open and probably cooling the food down, yet even after I had reported my issue, the door was still open with 2 cups of takeout chowder (along with other food) sitting in front of the door. They clearly didn’t care about the quality they were serving.
The next morning was the worst. A different waitress on duty left me waiting to be seated as she waited exclusively on one table. She placed a dirty tray on what would later be my table. When she seated me, she was clearly annoyed that I asked to be seated by the windows (a four top) even though there were only 2 parties in the entire room. She asked what I wanted to drink. I asked for a menu and she informed me that I needed to use the automated one. She asked what I wanted to drink and I again said I needed a menu. I then told her that I forgot my coupon for breakfast in the room and asked if I needed to go to get it. She very rudely told me that she absolutely needed it and could not serve me without it (the day before the waitress was able to ring me up without it). I returned to my room, then stood at the entry looking at the menu. She stopped me and asked me what I needed. I explained I was looking at the menu. She explained I could download it. I told her I don’t allow cookies on my phone. She said that she understood this was very complicated and that her children needed to explain how to download. Sigh. Anyway, it just got worse from there and this is getting long. I will end there. Basically, the service is overall horrible and there’s no point in complaining to management.
I’ll leave it as the food was good for one breakfast...the...
Read moreWay overpriced. Ingredients listed on the menu missing. I don't think the chef tastes the food. I wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of a doubt after the 1st night. I ate there 3 nights spending about $300.
I travel a lot, 230 days in the last year. I have stayed at many indigo locations. This experience was insulting.
"Chef Alex" was the chef each night. You see potential but also so many...
Read moreWow. Just wow. I am so sad to leave a bad review because this place has the potential to be so good. What a great location. Beautiful building. Sadly, that's where it ends.
Just an awful - I mean awful server. Pompous. Seemed bothered to fill water. Saw her a total of four times.
The manager seemed helpful. But at the end of the day, he wasn't.
Food: Salmon Caesar was good The fish and fries were very good. However, the coleslaw was just shredded cabbage. Nothing else. Salmon chowder was very good. Clams came out cold.
Handling problems: Now keep in mind, this is not a cheap restaurant, it's not really very expensive as nice restaurants go. But based on how beautiful it is, one one think it would have great food and service. It doesn't.
Note the clams above. They came out cold. The server came by a couple minutes after the food was dropped and I hadn't really noticed how cold the broth was, so I didn't report it right away. A minute later, she checked on the neighboring table. I tried to get her attention, both audibly and by eye contact. Neither was successful. Another 5-8 minutes later, I saw the manager at the other adjacent table, again tried to make eye contact, no luck. Bear in mind, the restaurant is not very busy or loud... Puzzling. Finally, next time through, I get the managers attention. I explain my clams appeared to be cold. He informs me they're to come out at 145 degrees. I let him know that certainly is not the case and ask him to refire. He reluctantly agrees.
The cold clams and broth that were remaining in my dish came back. In the same dish. Piping hot. What?? This is bananas. Why would they reheat and not refire? On top of that's they took the bread and didn't replace it. Nothing to do but waste broth. In addition, broken clam shells were served to me. What a mess. His apology? $3 off our check. Are you kidding me?
Lastly, the coleslaw. Who serves shredded cabbage without dressing and calls it coleslaw? I didn't learn this until the end of our meal when I asked my daughter why she didn't eat it. I tasted and smelled it - nothing. I told the server and she couldn't be bothered. I told her if it was my restaurant, I'd want the kitchen to know. It's definitely not right.
Overall, unless the restaurant truly had a bad night, I won't be back. I surely hope the restaurant contacts me and makes amends. That's too much money and too nice a place to not...
